I built this (fuse and tail fins only, the main wing was done by Prasanth). I plan to put a Warp 4, 5 turns, in it. have not weighed it yet. made of bead foam and coroplast. wing has an aluminium spar.

what do you think ? will it fly ?

Yes Man! If you put enough power on anything it will fly! I have found that with all the planes I design (If it looks right it is), as long as you balance your plane at a reasonable cg it will fly. I always maiden with the cg a little forward and expeirement moving it around after i confirm that it will fly. Good luck with it!

umm ya, but i think the tail surfaces could be a little bigger.

Looks kind of like a cross between a Kaos and a Dirty/Tweety Birdy with a Sig Kougar tail.

Sure it will fly if the C/G is right.

And looks like youll have a hard time balanceing with that long tail

@ wired : you mean the vertical stab is big or the horizontal ? it looks good thats why I made it that way. but if it will affect flight performance then i will have to reduce it.

@ john : it sure is a cross between many things.

@ sad : i took balancing into consideration. i am gonna use AA size 1300 mah batteries and 1150 . with the nose too a bit longer than usual...and with the heavy batteries i hope to get proper balance.



do you think I should gear the warp 4 or just go direct drive ? from the specs the warp 4 is lister for direct drive.

I also forgot to mention, once i add ailerons, the wing chord is gonna increase by about 3/4 of an inch .

and to balance the long tail...i might have to drill a few more light'ing holes in the fuse's tail section.

should i go for tricycle kinda wheels or just two ? what do you say ?

oh and i forgot to mention : the wings are about 5 mm forward swept. i did'nt put it that way...but i realised it only after i put in the aluminium spar and stick the joints...is it OK this way ?

one more question...usually people put the motor, then ESC , then batteries , then RX and servos when mounting them in the plane.

will it affect performance if i mount the esc near the RX and the batteries right behind the motor ? like in the pic..?

I have built about three planes similar to yours and they have all fractured at the fuse above the wing. The use of dowels and rubber bands to hold the wing on applies a bunch of force on the walls of the fuse over the wing.

To fix this, I have started to add support along the fuse above the wing. In some cases its a tongue depressor glued inside the frame and others its an extra foam support on the outside of the fuse to add character to the airplanes sides.
In either case, I would suggest more support.

Its a good looking plane and I bet it flys great! I enjoy scratch building and having success gives you a great feeling of accomplishment.
