Nearly completed, basically tuning the throws and painting left to do!

Think I'll go for the Flouro Orange wing tips and tail like my EasyGlider.

All up weight came out at 1090 gms with a 2600 mAh PolyQuest 3S pack.

Stock Gunther props give 670 gms thrust static at 13,000 RPM and 19.1 amps.

The Graupner 5.5x4.3 Speed Props give 720 gms at 19.5 amps and 12,600 RPM.

Any suggestions for other props to try?? I'm running a pair of MPX 8.4 volt Speed400's. Dare say I'll get around to a pair of brushless outrunners eventually!

No maiden flight tomorrow, looks like! Weather men are saying 20 to 30 knots with rain and hail!

Hello jurgen nice cargo on floats....i have two questions...
What about landings gears on the twin star II ?
I have a movie star and decided to go brush less i put n.2 400 t aurora on it with one brushless esc 30 amps .
The first attemp to make him work failed ...Only one motor work the other sems to start but it stops immediatelly......WHY ?
Also i have a Cargo since one year but never built ...does it fly well with their standard 400 motors direct drive ? What amp esc to use ... a duo 40 amps multiplex will be o.k ?
What lipo ?

Here is the finished DownUnder TwinStar II!

Ready for its Maiden Flight as soon as the wind dies off - currently around 15 knot gusts here!

I might put some strapping tape on its chin for landings!

I have two possible setups at present:
I am using:

2 x MPX 8.4 volt Speed400's
Either PolyQuest 2200 SLIM 3S pack or PolyQuest 2600 3S pack. Weight difference = 15 grams

Two prop choices:

Stock Gunthers
or
Graupner 5.5x4.3

Gunthers gives 19.1 amps total at 13000 RPM and 670 grams thrust

Graupner gives 19.5 amps total at 12600 RPM and 720 grams thrust

AUW 2600 pack is 1080 grams on stock Gunther props
AUW 2600 pack is 1105 grams on Graupner props with spinners

All options tried so far balance without lead.

Any suggestions for other props to try??

Maybe Graupner 6x3 or 6.6x3??

Looks like your Lipos are struggling with the amps. Normally you should get get 14.000+ rpm on 8 cells at around 24A.

I never bother with landing gear on a foamy, but Bill has a nice setup for the older version - see if I can find it.

With two brushless motors, you need two controllers.

I don't think a 40A ESC is up to the task for 4 Permax 400.

Aha, that explains the lower amps. You didn't mention that you didn't use the supplied motors. Before you try the CAM Slim 6.6x3", I recommend switching motors to Permax 480, 7.2V - need more torque! .

Always browsing from high altitude most of the threads and when I spot a target, I dive

If I was to run two small outrunners instead of the two Speed400's:

1. I use two speed controllers, one at each motor?

2. I run a pair of power wires to each motor and mount the ESC at the motor?

3. I run a servo extension back from each Speed Controller?

4. I use a Y cable to connect the two speed controller cables to the Rx??

That right???? Never had a multi engine plane before...
