Need ball bearing help

I need some ball bearings. I've been looking in Tower Hobbies catalog.
When they give a specification of 3/16 x 3/8" is that the ID x OD?

Thanks!

Yes thats what it will be, you also may need to know the width of the bearing to check it will fit in the housing.

There is a good discussion on bearings (allbeit in reference to IC motors) on the UK based RC Flyers web site, see > http://www.websherpa.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi#quest

You will find your bearings much cheaper from a bearing suppler rather than a hobby outlet.

RB if you go to a supplier be prepaired to work in metric , bearings don't really come in fractional sizes.

Here's a good source for bearings, both inch and metric sizes, once you've determined the size you need.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the help. I want to get them from Towers since I can get other things to make shipping worthwhile. I don't need exact dimensions such as thickness since I'll be using them to cobble together chain drive propellers for a Wright Flyer.

Bearings also have a speed rating, if the bearing will be subjected to high speeds or excessive side loads some bearings will not support those situations. Just make sure and check with the supplier to see if the bearing will be satisfactory for your application

Thanks for the tip Rekit. So far I've been looking at RC car wheel bearings. I think they'll be ok.
