Gary Wright Model Products E3D

Saw a picture of this model in latest S&E Modeler. Does anyone know where I could purchase the kit?

We (Aveox) have a killer system for it
27/26/2
4.4:1 gearbox
14x7 APC-E prop
10 cells (CP or RC 2400s)

One reviewer even said he was selling his brand ****** brushless motor, since the Aveox worked so much better.

Motor $120, gearbox $79, SL-48 controller w/bec $180 (yes using it on 10 cells, 4 servos) He was realy impressed with how cool the controller stayed at low throtle settings.

Not to discourage Aveox,.. but

the E3D was designed around a powerplant that is more in the price range for the average sport flyer, that is one thing that has made this plane so popular. Like Dereck posted, go to the SPORT forum and there is tons of info there.

The Aveox systems are fantastic, but don't feel that you have to start off with costs that high to get flying.

just my opinion.

Have fun.

Hi Matthew,

After 20 flights and having my first stuck brush and an engine compartment full off black dust, you have my interest.

When you say better than the ****er can you quantify the differences. Also, what is the bolt diameter? Will it be possible to use my GD 600 gearbox that I love so much ?

Can't Quantify the differences, but just that the reviewer for one rag called me to say he was selling his other motor, because the new one worked so much better. Controller was alswo a lot cooler.

Are you the Marc with the Canadian Fire Supression plane? Saw you at Toledo at the Yellow Aircraft Booth , but when i looked around, you were gone.

going to Atlanta SEFF?

Matthew,

Can you mention which magazine this will be for? I would like to read the article.
I ran the numbers in Motocalc and expected to see similar performance figures for the above mentioned Aveox setup (using the Aveox ESC advanced numbers) and for the "standard" Hacker setup (C40 12T, 4.6:1, 14x7 prop). Instead, I had to prop the Aveox with a 16x10 to get similar thrust and pitch speed numbers.

I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, just not what I expected. So, I'm wondering what the reviewer is valuing: flight time versus crazy-thrust <g>. Or, maybe something is amiss in how I setup Motocalc. Did the reviewer have any actual static measurements?

Aveox 1010 -> 27/26

Matthew I sent you an email (to matthew.orme@aveox.com) on 15th April about this, but never got a reply:

Is it possible to upgrade an early 1010/2Y (Kv=3100) to a new spec 27/26/2 (Kv=2343) by fitting a new rotor and removing the sensors? How much would a 27/26 rotor cost?

BTW this is relevent to this thread as I am thinking of using this motor & 4.4:1 gearbox in my E3D after I have tried the recommended Endo setup. If I can't cheaply upgrade my old Aveox 1010/2Y to the new sensorless spec would it be OK on 10 RC2400 in the E3D propped for 35A - 40A?

Neil.
