Kyosho- Mad science Motor-Avaliability

Edit:

This is the continuation of the thread stared by Guapoman2000. You can find part I here

The following was received from Kyosho, in response to a "@#$%%" letter I sent them. This was received from: "Efrain Manzano" <Efrain@kyoshoamerica.com>
We are expecting 20 of each motor in the Mad Science series, so feel free to give us a call in about 3 to 4 weeks at 1(800)716-4518.

John,

What a croack of X$@@)#) Really, this thing really sinks since these motors have been popular and now Kyosho decides to open their own outlet and all of the sudden no one is carrying their products!

Carlos: Thought you would appreciate Kyoshos response...Didn't someone (John and Christo) say they would be around $50.00? Real bargain for a $19.00 motor. Oh well! saving for brush-less! Have 3s2P Li-Po's and 45 CC ESP..Checking out motors! John Sard

Maybe a Car person would think so! BUT for Aero! NOT! especially when brush-less are coming down in price or up in performance. Looks like as with all good things (The Endo's etc.) must come to an end. Maybe the Chinese companies will come out with something but I think they will concentrate on brush-less motors. John Sard

Agreed,,, I was just trying to understand your write-up about $50.US brushed motor?

Sure, you can find very good deals on Brushless motors right now of all kinds to eliminate the thought of going Brushed a thing of the past.

Well I got all the electronics in and mounted. Man is that 8 cell pack close to the aileron servo and controls. Everything seems to work though. I taped the endo and gear box in where I thought it should go, mounted the wing and cowl, installed a battery and (without a prop, spinner and LG) the plane is right on CG !

By the time I put on a prop, LG, Spinner and Canopy, I should be about to push the endo back about 1/16 of an inch more to close the gap between the Spinner and Cowl and should have the CG right dead on spec.

This really is an awsome looking, well built plane. Very light, but very sturdy. I think I will be ready to maiden on Tuesday AM (weather permitting)

Yes John,

That was J&C who called Koysho on those endo prices, too rich for my blood. I will go brushless as my 6 endos start to die. I have 10 sets of brushes so I hope it will not be an all at once proposition.

I plan to start with the MP Jet 2820-7 and see if it will preform on 8-9 cells at somewhere near endo style. If yes it will go in the lighter SuperStar EP or this SSEP or my new CAP 232 .40e

And then if it does do well on 8 & 9 cells, I will next purchase an AXI 2826-10 with a 3S2p 4000 mah battery for the Cap 232 and also see if this larger brushless will fly the big 5 lbs World Models Mach I & II Sky Raiders. Really with either of those planes I am looking for a motor that iwll out perform the endo set up. The Mach I even on 9 cells is still a little weak.

But this SSEP ought to be a really show stopper on 8 cells and an Endo geared to 3.8 with a 12x8 on it.

Wished the Endo was a little lighter and those GP-3300 or 3800's lighter as well and you will see that it is all in the wing loading..

Shave off some weight on the ENDO and those GP's but, keep the power output and you will see a transformation.

When I flew my SUPER SPORTSTER with the Great Planes G-600GD power system and using the 2S2P APOGEE 2480mAH, Li-POLYs I did not necessarily got more performance since I needed to eliminate some of the reduction gearing for more prop speed but, the model turned and looped much nicer as a result of less weight.

Here is one I should know ... but don't

Which is the small diameter bolt size?? A 2-56 or a 6-32 ?? I think the last number is the thread size, But I am looking for the smaller size because I want to go to Blind Nuts & bolt sets for all my motor mounts. Just much easier to deal with the than a nut you have to hold on to to tighten and loosen.

I Think I would want the smallest ones about an 1" long (I use a set on one plane, but do not remember the size).
