In US colleges, we typically have 1 to 4 tests per class during the semester, and then we have an entire week at the end of each semester dedicated to "final exams". These exams are often (but not always) cummulative 2-hour exams, covering all the material learned over the semester.
Most US colleges also give an "exit exam" to all graduating students that covers their entire degree. However, the results of this exam are usually used to grade the school, rather than the students.
