Sloping in Cornwall next week

Weeheeeeee!!!!!

A week off!

Any of you local Cornish nutters care to join me on the slope next week?

Could do with finally scoping out all the best spots for various directions. Currently only ever flown the area around Lantic Bay, and St. Aggie of course.

Quite fancy trying out some the slopes between Torpoint and Looe - can't remember the name of them though..

Sadly my Wizard Compact hasn't arrived in time for the trip,
but I've got p l e n t y of others.... :-)

"T'will be orite d'reckly"......

Aha!

I remember the slopes now - Whitsand Bay.

Not sure about the access issue, but I guess there must be paths along the cliff tops. So I'll be the one out for a walk with a tranny in my hand :-)

Being an Emmet for the week Julian?
Depends on the wind of course but have sloped parts of Whitsand bay between Torpoint and Looe in S - SW, and between Looe and Polperro in S - SE. Can be awkward to land in some (most) places.

Always Cox Tor up on Dartmoor if you fancy the climb and love rocks.

Have fun and watch out for the Hicks Special Draft. Lovely anaesthetic!!!

Julian - let us know how the week goes! Hope the wind cooperates. I'll be in Polruan for 2 weeks starting the 6th of August. Can't wait!

P.S. I avoid the leaving charge at Polperro by arriving and leaving by boat... Although there isn't much parking room in the harbour at low tide in summer...!

He he well you won't need directions to the Blue Peter then!!!
HSD = High Speed Death.

The old man used to live in Talland Bay now moved to Looe. Used to keep a boat in the harbour at Polperro.

Talland huh?

Parents place is in Sclerder Lane, overlooking Talland.

Christ, what a small world!

At least Talland is reasonably civilised and relatively quiet bar emmets who have trouble with the single track road down to the beach. (What me - back up???)
My personal opinion is that Polperro is one of the nastiest tourist traps on the planet and Looe is no better. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting neither.
Anyway, Julian, enjoy the pace of life(?), the beer and with luck some good flying. Only ever bothered to fly foam down at Talland as landing is next to impossible on the west side of the bay in a S-SE unless you walk right to the top by the caravan park. The east side should be OK in a S-SSW. Landing also possible in the small field right down by the beach unless full of illegal campers but is a walk from either flying slope and is a one-shot landing affair.
Have a couple HSD for me.

I never bothered flying at Talland, too many 'whassat mister' for my liking.

There's a better s/SE spot slightly further to the East of Talland. A National trust car park on top of the hill, which overlooks one of the caravan parks, then a short walk through a woody glade, 100 yards up an NT path, then you're out onto the stretch of slope that overlooks Looe Island.

Landing isn't easy, but the flying is good.

I've also DS'd Pencarrow Head in a Westerly.

Now THAT was a butt clencher - and not with a foamy, but my recently dearly departed Compact Wizard X-tail !!!!!

I quite agree about Looe in particular.

A car park full of dodgy fairgrounders, and a town choked with low rent, badly dressed, beer'd up chavs stuffing themselves (and the seagulls) with crap fish and chips from any number of greasy cafe's.

I like visiting in the depths of winter. The place is deserted!

So, who's going to join me then!

Only after emmet season has finished. Half term next week - the place will be full of rug rats. Ugh...

Forcast looks exellent for Whitsand Bay tommorow ( Sat ).
SW at 18 mph. I usually fly from the field on the east side of the bay.
About 2pm.
