Ditto!

I am currently working on another "lightweight" version. I am building the Extra at about 95% (34" WS) with the rimfire and a 3-cell 900 pack. Should be around 10oz. RTF. Based on my expereince with the "full size" Edge conversion with this power system, I think it should be just about perfect. I'll post some pics when it is done.

Komodo Motor

Boss248:

This is a 278-v1 17 turns 24 gage motor..not the double..I can get about 135 watts from this setup with larger battery..the pq 3s1500's the downside is the additional weight.. another 1 ounce..I generally use the 3s800's as they
are lighter. with the 1500's it is just slightly warm..I stay off the throttle on the 800's.. except in bursts..

I now just need a good 3d FMS model to improve and practice my skills.
So Far, I have not found something that will simulate a Foamie 3d plane. I am sure they are out there somewhere?

I know the FMS is limited, but for windy days, I could at least practice.

Thanks for the comment..BobFlyer

Bob...what does the motor weigh..I am looking for something in the 1.4-1.6 oz range and will prolly get the Hacker but I like the idea of being able to try different windings. Can you take a pic of the motor and post it here..?? I have Aerofly Pro Delux and none of the flat fomies fly like the real ones..thank heavens. I just practice on what plane feels to be close...it has really helped me..I find my self looking for the "Space Bar" on my Tx...not

Komodo Motors and Pic.

Boss:

I have loaned my camera to a friend and will not be back till sunday. However, the Komodo web site has excellent photo's of the motors.

Komodohobby.com

Also, there is a thread on each of the motors, 278 and 283...

The Hacker is a quality motor.. I also fly the 20-20L excellent motor..

For the really light stuff, I have had very good success with the Komodo's. Not excessive power, but sufficient.

Would love to see your lightweight version of the edge.
I am using the same power setup as you (rimfire and silver series 12 amp esc.
Have u ever tried 10*3.8 prop (APC) ?
The motor draws too much amps using 10*4.7 props if i hover sustained periods.

10 *3.8 aps giveme the result below I guess i am pulling around 4-5 amps at half throttle
i can hover till the battery run out in a hover ( 13 minutes/1000 lipo 3 cell)
On 1320 lipo 3 cell 19 minutes

I really have been amazed at how well this plane flys and have built 4 but the plans, the fuse plans to be exact are difficlt for me to cut out and not mess it up so I fixed the plans to make it easier to cut and build. The plans offered by Stevo at 3dbatix.com are freely offered as are mine and I take no credit for the design of the plane..I only made them less difficult IMHO that is. I will post my build pics here if anyone wants to give it a try.

Thats a great idea Boss. I know exactly the area you want to change. The one I build for SEFF will have dual aileron servos so I'm gonna clean up the top of the plane as well. I still think this plane is the best foamie deal around.

Any of you going to SEFF?

Seff...possibly...me and moterhead may go.. The plane is really spoiled me...I sit and ponder what flatty to do next but I end up with a 330 because I think it's about as good as it can get for an old hack like me...

I was also pondering how this plane can be lightened up without chnaging its size.

I saw hacker has an a20 50s weight is 1 ounce it can spind a 9*3.8 prop
3.6 gram servos
10 gram esc
battery that weight 2.4 ounces or less
Reciever that weighs 4.5 grams

Auw trying to make 9 ounces but i might even out at 10
