Still having a blast with mine. Been taking my 330 to work with me and flying during my lunch break. Winds are light and I'm able to get it to hover pretty good. Still need a lot more practice. By the time I get home it's getting dark. Tried to fly my 330 when the sun was setting, getting dark and that was interesting.

Glad to know that everyone is having such a blast with this plane. I knew it was a schweetie the very first time I flew it. You guys really should try the 540 conversion that I did it makes it a little better. We all have the guys at 3dbatix to thank for such a killer plane...

mad duc, my extra hover at half trottle with 2s 800 lipo and 10*3,8 , i tried with 3s 1250 e tec and 8*4 gws it works good too, but 1250 is too heavy for indoor flying, for outdoor it s good

Yeah, you're right, I am more of an outdoor flyer. I fly mine in winds up to 4Bft, just having fun. May try some more indoor flying this winter, and will have to slow down then.

Dorian,

What's your wingspan and did you use 6mm or 3mm foam? Where do you think to save more weight?

the wingspan is like the original, 0,85m ,i use 3mm foam.
i can save weight with a new carbon spar, mine is a part of 6mm tube split in two .with 3mm flat carbon spar it may be less weight.
i could save more weight using using nylon thread instead cabon spars for the control.
my motor mount is 4mm thick, i could use 2mm.
i m going to post some picks of the model in few minutes
regards
dorian

Update: Changed prop to a GWS 11x4.7. With the GWS 10x6 it was flying great, motor stayed cool, batteries stayed cool. Thought I could push it a little more and all I can say is WOW!!!!! What a change in power. Getting great vertical from a hover now. Pulled straight up and kept climbing. Hovers a half throttle maybe less. Had so much power I flew it mainly at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle most of the flight. Got a flight time of 14+ minutes. Checked the battery and it was at 11.27 volts after resting it for a few minutes. Could have flown longer but I thought that was enough for this pack. Inside loops are very tight but my outside loops are...trying to find the word..wide. Going to move the control rods on my ailerons to get more deflection as the rolls were fine but I want more. Still loving this plane. Thanks 3dbatix for a great design. Going to try the Edge 540 next.

On this plane, what size CF (rod or tube?) would you use for landing gear. If I want to put it on later for indoor, what would be the lightest I could get away with?

I agree: this is the best plane ever

SS Shmavis I can't tell what size to use but from the plans it says 8mm carbon rod. On a side note. I took the extra 330 out just now for a quick flight before it got dark. Wanted to try knife edge. Took a bunch of tries before I finally got it. Got it into position and held it there while going around in a slow circle. Did need to use the rudder a lot to keep it going but once it did it just seemed to lock in. Did two complete circles around me then I gave it full throttle and watched it take off. Left the field with the biggest smile on my face in weeks.

Here is my Extra. My first 3D ship!

maidened it today. need to work on the prop set up but this is what I have.

himax 2812-0850
phx 10
tp 1320 3s
12x4.7 (need to change pulls about 14amps)
auw 12.5oz

I didnt put any landing gear on. Does it make much difference? I did dork it in on one landing. cracked the foam in a couple of spots. May have been worse with landing gear, dont know. Any thoughts? I had some tail flutter when my air speed would increase (no high speed dive or anything), any one had this prob?

What props would work good with my set up?
