Power set up for Great Planes Sukhoi SU-31 3D Profile Park Flyer Airplane?
I have a Great Planes Sukhoi SU-31 3D Profile Park Flyer Airplane that I want to power with a brushless, Li-po set-up but I can't seem to figure out just what motor, battery, controller would work with this plane.
SPECS: Wingspan: 39.4" (1000mm)
Wing Area: 555 sq in (36 sq dm)
Weight: 26oz (735g)
Wing Loading: 4.9 oz/sq ft (15 g/sq dm)
Length: 45.5" (1150mm)
Airfoil: Fully symmetrical, mid-wing placement
I would like to get 10 min run time if possible and pretty good performance for 3-D flying.
This is my first electric plane and I've been trying to educate myself on the electric lingo, (motor ratings, Li-po battery ratings, speed controllers, etc.) but I'm still learning.
I have been looking all over trying to figure out these electrics, brushless motors, and Li-Po batteries.
My questions are:
What are some good choices for a brushless motor?
Would it be better to go with a direct drive or gear driven motor?
What size Li-Po battery would work well?
What brand, size, etc. speed controller would be recommended?
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.
