HL Hot Rod Extreme

Could someone tell me if flex is a problem with this plane. I have a tribute now. And I really want something a little stiffer. I'd also like it to be able to track fairly well. I like the larger size.

I like the Hot Rod Extreme becuase of it's size. But if not the hotrod then what else are my choices? Foam is my first choice. But a sub $100 balse ARF could do also. I don't have time right now to build a kit. At least not until I get a park flyer I'm happy with.

Thanks

Well its not an arf but my favorite park flyer 3d kit is a gwmp mini e3d. It rocks. It is worth having and doenst take long to build. Its worth it. HMM an arf. Maybe a flubber by flinton or the jumping jack or something like that.

I like the Flubber. And may end up buying one in time. But first I want something a bit less costly for low stress high flying on windy days.

The E3D is at the end of the list becuase I don't have time to build. No more kits for me until I finish my Patriot.

The vertical and horizontal fuse pieces are triangulated in the rear making it pretty stiff. I haven`t noticed it hunting in pitch much, but I usually fly it pretty slowly. It`s the best tracking foamy I`ve flown by far, and should be a good plane to learn almost anything on. Get it and have a ball

HL recommends a PJS 1200 Outrunner Brushless Motor and a 3 Cell 2150 mAh LiPoly Pack for this plane. Do you think it would have adequate 3D performance with an AXI 2208/34 and a 3 cell 910 mAh Pro Lite pack?

I figured the power system itself is the heaviest part of the plane. By using a lighter power system, your essentially moving the whole plane into a lighter weight category.

Any thoughts?

I had a HR Extreme with the Hacker A20-20L - TP1320 combo that flew well. 17oz - ready to fly.

I also just saw this:

Similar size, similar cost. The Hot Rod is a good flier but I might try this.

Thanks for the link Mini Buzzard. I like that Billy Hell Edge 540. I've also been thinking of getting the E-Flite Yak 54. I thought it might be a better sized plane for my AXI 2208/34. What do you think?

I have the Hot Rod set up with the PJS 1200 has enough power(have it stripped down right now, want hotter set up in it) if you have a AXI 2208/34 IMO you wouldnt be happy with the power of that set up for 3D.Had that same AXI in a 13 oz plane and ended up going to a 2212/26,I'll either be putting a AXI 2217/16 or Hacker A20-20l in my new Hot Rod set up.Olin
