Hi Guys, could someone tell me where I can find directions on how to create a 12 volt power supply (to power a charger or two in the shop) from an old computer power supply? Or if someone has some they could send me please let me know!

its Cheaper just buy a Ready-made 12 Volts Power supply from a Surplus store, I use a NOTEBOOK power supply with 12 Volts 4 Amps, for my Super_NOVA 250S from FMA Direct.......check the INPUT VOLTAGE RANGE of your Charger, cause same charger can accept 12 to 24 Volts.......its very common to find a 18 to 21 Volts Notebook power supply.......I just got lucky to find a 12 volts 4 Amps.

The notebook power supply I got, is almost the same size as my Super Nova Charger.

my friend use a computer power suppply, just need to put some load resistor on 5 Volts output a 10 ohms 5 Watts....some power supply need a mininum load of 0.5 Amps in order to work properly.

Really simple. get an ATX power supply (not an AT) - on the large power connector you will see a green wire (the only one), just ground it to any black (or use an SPST switch). That will enable turn on the power supply and enable 12v output for you.

On most you also have to put a load on one of the 5v output lines (usually the red wire in the 4 wire harnesses). A 12v automotive light bulb between any pair of red and black wire is about the right load and gives a visual indication that it is "On".

If you already have an old PC power supply available this has got to be the cheapest way - but if you don't there are now lots of regulated supplies at 12v or 13.8 that will do the job nicely.
