I used special paints for foam before but the paint would easily come off.
For my Xfree I first applied a primer for plastics (http://www.motip.nl/upload/ti/1/WEBL278.pdf) and afterwards a regular lightweight paint. I also used it on depron; the primer makes it much less sensitive to regular paint. You sill need be careful tough, when applying too much paint at a time it still starts eating the depron. Absolute best foam safe paint, in my opinion, in a VERY wide variety of colors is Parma. It's not normally used in the aircraft hobby, just because I don't think they've tried to penetrate it, but it's heavily used in RC Cars on Lexan bodies. It's not cheap stuff but it's water based and has no problems with foam. Their line is called Faskolor. Great stuff. Use with any airbrush or normal brush. Airbrush is better though.
