X-UFO... The next XRB???

The X-UFO is going to be available soon. So... Do you think it will be the next XRB SR or just another flying Rip-Off??

I think it will be a must have if it performs because there are lots of folks who would buy the 4 rotor Dragonflyer but for the price. This thing will be somewhere in the 100-200 dollar range.

It does not really compete with the coax birds as it is a little "something differn't" which is why I think it will sell so long as it performs.

I pre-ordered one from Toddsmodels.com for $179 shipped. I hope it flys good.

I started out with a vectron a few years ago and if the price was right a draganflyer would have been next. I couldn't justify that initial price though so I moved onto heli's. I'm glad I did....I'm not sure a draganflyer would have kept my interest and I've certainly gained a great deal more skill than the draganflyer would have allowed me to develop.

Having said that, at this price I'm not sure I can resist...despite moving on to greater things. It looks like a nice toy to play around with. Could do with a LiPo though.

The supplied radio looks like a really nice quality too.

If it performs well enough (and from the vids it looks like it does) I think it may well kill off the draganflyer once and for all.

Does this thing have piezo gyros? I agree that swapping in lipolys will be the first thing I'd do.

Silverlit's site says "gyro stabilized".

Yeah - wonder if those are mechanical or piezo. Guess we'll find out when the first one gets in someone's hands.

The cool thing about the Vectron was that front is always front in relation to where the controller is, so theres no such thing as 'nose in'. Always thot that should be the way to control a saucer. I'm not sure I can train my stubborn brain to equate colours as to which way it's pointing. Hope it flys as advertised, though. Since the XRB sr my buying habit seems to have stopped. Post a report once u get it!

Trouble with that "front" paradigm is that it is inconsistant with all other rc toys that have an on-board and not an observer directional model. Learning nose-in control is key to moving on to other more complex models.

Because the thing is symetrical and there are no good visual cues to its orientation I can see your point though.

... Flying the vectron outside at night with a very slight wind makes for a dynamic correcting fun challenge too.

We'll have to wait for the first reviews ... if it starts to take on the amazing content like in the bladerunner threads ... then we will have a better idea of the interest. I'm thinking of ordering from Todd's too. Hobby People says they already have it in stock!

LOL, I couldn't find it the first time I looked. Hopefully Toddsmodels will get them soon too.

Anyone ordering one from Hobby People?
