I think we should start to do jets with turbines. Watch these two videos and see if you agree.

Golly Jeff!

I had seen previous videos of the B-52, that is really sad. My friend in California flys a f-15 with twin turbines. The engines alone are $3,500.00!! Wouldn't you feel stupid trying to save a few dollars on a receiver or servo and loose that plane?!

An interesting note: I have watched a number of large scale model crashes on video. A really common factor is that they seem to over bank on a turn and auger in. I don't know if they stall a tip or what.

There is a formula for stall speed in a turn and it would blow you away on how much lower the ss is in a bank. I have seen a lot of planes go in the ground due to a stall in a bank. The natural instinct is to pull up which just exacerbates the situation. Push down get the stall done with and power up. We get away with murder on our small lightly loaded electrics. When I flew gas I saw it alot more due to wing loadings but I would always laugh when the pilot just said I don't know what happened I think I got hit by interference since they thought they had no control.

First one looks like an anti-retract campaign ad. All the rest seemed to suffer from the high speed stall demon. I guess when you fly big airplanes, you need to fly them like real airplanes. Though they sometimes have the same problem.

I'm still trying to figure out the second video. Did the Tomcat blow up after the video ended? Or did Lee just post a video of a successful flight of a very nice looking airplane?

One of the on line reports I saw on the model B-52 crash had a really good idea. If you are going to fly something that sophisticated, put remote telemetry in it!! Air Speed and maybe stall warning indicators.
