scratch build fiberglass l-39

I've been flying electric for a some years now and now want to build my first edf with retracts. There are quite some planes to choose from but are all considerable expensive. I was thinking of the l-39 from k&a, the more expensive l-39 from http://www.schreiner-gfk-modell.de/albatros.htm, or building one from scratch myself.

Does anyone have some experience in shaping a foam model to create the formers for the fiberglass? Or is ther a beter way to go about this, or better to buy one anyway?

Thanks.

Erwin

If you like to build, then build.
If you like to spend time on other things buy a kit.

I am aware that one might take longer than the other, however i am wondering if someone has some tips, experience in making their own formers for a composite plane. It takes more time, but you can almost without cost reproduce endlessly.

Is there someone who has done this succesfully or not and why?
