FS: autogyro conversion kits

Slow-G is a kit that converts a GWS Slow Stick into an autogyro.

The build thread, complete with flying photos and videos. is here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...15#post3593834
Assembly manual, which is a work in progress, is here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=364026

I have 17 pre-production kits. Be the first at your field or club to fly an autogyro! Please note that there is no manual included with these kits except for the thread above. Also note that at this point the packaging is rather plain. These are kits and require assembly. Read through the manual thread to determine if you are comfortable with the skills required.

Kit highlights
  • Machined balsa blades with Clark-Y-type airfoil
  • Laser-cut rotor head harts
  • 4 ball bearings
  • Flies on stock, brushed EPS300C drive from your Slow Stick kit.
  • Rudder/Elevator/Throttle control. Handles like a Slow Stick, only slower.
  • ROG or handlaunch
Slow-G uses LPS gearboxes as bearing blocks for rotor pylons.

What you'll need to complete the kit:
  • everything that came in your Slow Stick kit except the wing
  • 3-channel radio with 5-Amp ESC and two micro servos
  • GWS 1180 prop
  • 8 #0 sheet-metal or wood screws

I offer two versions: basic for an "introductory low price" of $30 and
complete for an equally low price of $48 plus actual shipping.

Basic includes all wood, including laser-cut and machined parts. Complete additionally includes 2 sets of LPS parts (2 housings, 2 shaft sets and 4 bearings). If your LSH carries LPS parts, you can probably get a better deal form them. Note that you need 2mm LPS parts, not the more common 3mm EPS or IPS items.

Edit 5/30: Note I no longer sell the kits myself. AeroMicro.com now handles distribution for these kits. Call them 408-255-5566 and they'll be happy to mail you a kit.

1) How does it do in wind?

2) Could it support a PenCam?

About as well as a stock Slow Stick.

I haven't tried loading my prototypes up, but I see no reason why a Slow-G couldn't lift an extra 1.5 oz. With the stock, brushed motor, I fly on 1/2 throttle most of the time and rarely need more than 3/4. So I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

These are selling better than I thought! Thank you to everyone who bought one or expressed interest.

I found out that USPS Priority is a flat $3.85 in CON-US, so that's what I'll use unless you tell me you want some other shipping method.

I accept PayPal, personal checks or money orders, but not credit cards.

Do you still have any of these? I might like a complete kit if you do.

Yes I do still have some left! And it looks like I'll be making a bigger batch, so go ahead and let me know where to send yours to. Post office is open until 1PM PST, so it might even be on its way today.
