Salt Lake County Flying
A posting area for times/places to meet up to fly.
For the record, I will be flying every morning without rain from about 7:30 to 8:00AM at Smith's park (just of the Bangerter exit in Draper) from now until it gets cold again. Here's the Channel list and maps to SL county flying locations: 23 Erashby's Brother (Unicorn) 33 Darren's Primary (Unicorn, Pitts, Etc) 34 Erashby (Unicorn) 38 Brent 39 Nate 42 Robin 45 Jerry (Unicorn) 46 Brian 48 Brent 56 Joey (Wild Wing) 57 Branduno (Unicorn) 60 Darren EDF BTW, for those in other clubs in Utah County, I'm sure no one would mind some Ute Club threads for your off-site stuff. hej Darren,
You should free 56 from the Utah County list. Ute Pilots. I think Wade Joos is the only one who reads this section. |

Arrow... sure! When it gets light and warm enough to fly earlier I'd love to fly early. I'm a big morning person when morning means a dawn patrol flight
So far it's been too cold and dark to fly before 7:00, but May-Aug will probably be fine! And yes, Falcon park is just north of 94th South on 1805 East. There's usually a nice group of guys flying there at lunch. Darren Edit: Joey, got it! |

I have created a webpage with satellite photos of varous parks that I have either flown at or other people have. If you have a place you want me to add just let me know the address. I find it good to scope out a park before going there to know what it will look like.
You can see the photos so far here: http://www.davehales.com/parks The photos are from Microsoft's Terra Server (free) |

I have scouted a few possible flying locations near where I work at 33rd south just across from the trax station.
The first and probably prefered location is Granite Park Junior High near 33rd and State. School is out June 2nd so after that there should be a few months of open field at lunch. |

The second area is a little iffy. It is just south of the bus depot behind the county jail off of 33rd south and I-15. The lighter colored area in the center is accesible the other areas are now fenced off with a small barb wire fence. The area is also a little rocky/gravely, not real friendly unless you catch your plane. I may try to fly there on days when I don't have much time, as it only takes 5 minutes or less from my work.
If anyone knows of anyplace better that is fairly close to 33rd south and I-15 let me know. I have on occasion gone to the Taylorsville park at lunch but that takes 10-15 minutes each way which takes a good chunk out of my lunch time. |

Dave,
If you have ever flown at the 33rd south 11th West location you are braver than I am. I have learned to stay away from big roads now after crash landing on a few. Brent |

Dave, You are brave. I live just across the street from 33south and redwood but Im to intimidated to fly in the field next to redwood. I guess I will have to give it a try. My last experience of flying into the midle of the lacross game was very humiating but at least no one ran over my plane. Thats a great resource on your page. Thanks for sharing. Let us know when and where your going to be flying and im sure your likely to find someone who would like to fly nearby.
