I'll bring my glider and try to figure out how to get a combat plane working again.

Beautiful Day! Great combat fun. I swapped the motor from my McClain wing to my Titan and flew it in combat the whole time. Went through 7 2200mAh packs. Got to hit everyone there including a pair of nice head on hits - one with Lee and one with Todd. Not to mention a bunch of ticks and near misses as well a bunch of ordinary hits with Todd. I did manage to get some elevon flutter on the Titan in a full speed dive from about 400'. Stopped as soon as I backed off on the throttle. I was flying one of those scimitar shaped 7x6 props from HC ( they act like they have a higher pitch than the APC style 7x6's) on the 3530-1700 with a fresh battery pak. Never saw a problem in level flight, nor again even in a dive. It's great to be able to count on friends to whack your plane when you need it.

After fussing around in the air with my Pinata Gordo, which is a crappy build of a plane and barely flies, Jeff gave me a shaft from one of his dead motors and I swapped it out at the field with the shaft in my Wild Wing Max motor, which snapped at the base last Saturday. Took 5-10 minutes to do, but I got it flying again and WOW that old Wild Wing Max is a great plane. Very similar in flying characteristics to the Unicorn.
Once that plane was up, combat became really fun again. Wow, Jeff and I were doing some serious aerial ballet, barely missing each other hundreds of times, dancing in and out of each other's shadows and wake. I can't believe how fantastic the weather was today. Hopefully it holds until Saturday. |

Hi new guy. Welcome to the thread. Wednesday flying happens at Vinyard and Saturday flying has been pretty consistent at a sod farm North of Vinyard. We only have permission to fly at the Sod farm on Saturdays so we don't interfere with the farms sod removal. Keep an eye on this thread. People will often post before flying. By the way, we all fly electric.

Welcome JuiceHall. The sod farm we fly at is just North of Vineyard Park off that frontage road. Our web site www.utahflyers.org has maps if you need them. There are several locations we fly from depending on what parts of the farm are being planted or harvested. Just keep your eyes open for planes in the air and cars on the ground and it's never hard to find us on Saturdays.
I live a couple blocks away from PG Junior High, so if you're ever going out to fly there, feel free to PM me here on the group. I check in with the forum 3 or 4 times a day. I never go fly alone (unless maidening a plane or something), so I'm happy to hook up to provide some local company... so long as it's not Saturday because I'm an RC combat-aholic... I go where the blood is and that's the sod farm. Todd |

Availability just depends on the day. But if you go every day, then I'll see if I can swing over there every once in a while at 4. What are you flying? Usually when I fly there I take my Extra 330 (63") or my Omei sailplane. But if you were to fire up a combat plane, I'd show up fairly regularly for that. We might could even twist the arms of Jon Finch or Jon Lemon to show up on occasion. Jon, I may be able to make it up to the point today. I'm itching for some slope action. See if you can get Finch to bring his EPP DS ship. I bought the same one he did, and want to see it in action on a regular slope. I may throw it in the build queue earlier than later this fall. |
