Keeping the motor running on the 2 cell may extend the life of the motor. I have already broken 2 shafts with the Himax 2025 4100 with a stiff prop and don't want to do that to my Razor. Thses two reasons motivated me to try it in the first place.

The EP5043 is a soft flexible prop so it's actual thrust may be misleading when compared to a stiff prop. It was just by trial and error not by any magical formula that we came up with this set up.

I will probably be flying Thursday and Saturday this week.

Are you using a PHX 10 or 25 with this setup? I got my first wing flying this weekend but the little J250 (while great) didn't have the oomph i was expecting.

We had one CC10 have a melt down with 3 cells I don't know if anyone has been using anything but the CC25 lately, even with the 2 cells.

The only way to get the MPH out of the J250 is to cut the wing down. Occassionally we have had weak J250s that run weak from first use. At 35" with a J250 the wing is a trainer and very gentle.

With the J250 I prefer a 15 A ESC and a 1250 Etech or similar battery and a EP4040 prop. Cutting the prop down as described will decrease the speed a little but the motors won't last long in the heat if you don't.

I recommend a 28" wingspan as a good size for medium to advanced pilots. With a 28" span it can still carry 13 oz well and has good performance. Any smaller and it flys heavy.

I have been using a Hitec 555 dual conversion reciever and HS-81 servos for durability and reliability but at the expense of weight. Until recently I flew every flying day with a J250 test plane that was a little heavier than it should have been but it flew so well it started the WW revolution. It is the yellow plane that did the barrel roll into the ground at the end of the WW video.

I have gone to all brushless for my planes now but my boys have some J250s still. They were a good place to start but the Razor 400 is soooooooo-muuuuch-bettttttter, but for 30x to 100x the cost including a CC25 it should be.

The wing im flying is a Mini SpeedWing 250 (SloFly shipped the MSW instead of the PCW i ordered).. It has a 24" wing span. Right now its the only non-brushless i have. They say its a 60mph plane but my GWS P51 w.Axi 2212/26 seems faster (and i know its not a 60mph bird).

On the WW'ings. what would the best brushless be on 2s? Still the razor 400? I want to start collecting all the parts before the wings get cut.

For 2s I really like the RZ350. My dad flies this one around. Pick a 2s in the 1900-2100 size range and it'll sing!

Just a note that we ought to move WW discussion to the WW thread. I worry that we may bugger up our forum with so much that it losses its user friendliness.
I think we will all benefit if we keep threads in our little forum somewhat on topic.

OK start throwing the rocks @ me now

I agree but these conversations pop out of flying statements. The disadvantage of posting them here is the SLC boys might have the same questions but not watching the Utah County site.

Not all of these comments are directly related to the WW. How should we proceed? I think we do need to have a separate posting area for discussion and just refer people to that thread for more information.

Lee

Late note. I just looked at the SLC site and they have the same problem.

Maybe we should post some posting guidlines as a sticky at the top of the forum stating some basic guidelines.

New threads are free... if the aren't used they'll cycle themselves out of existence.

If you think a topic needs a new thread, open one up. That's what the forum is for. So far we have branched out in directions I never thought we would, and this is a good thing. If stuff doesn't get used in a while, it's sorta self cleaning as the odd topics cycle down.

A little something for everyone is good.

It'd be nice to organize all conversation into relevant topics, but boards usually don't work that way. Questions and comments come out of local discussions as tangents -- it's not a bad thing.

I will be moving my "Motors" and "Battery" tutorial posts over here in the form of threads as well, for local use also. I'm not sure they'll get much commentary between editions but I'll keep up with them better here than on the blog.

I've been out of town for a week. I took a WW in a suitcase and flew it in Kansas last week and tried to fly in downtown Chicago yesterday morning, but the park I had walked to was closed and fenced off for reseeding.

I'm planning to fly today at USS about 2 or a bit later.

Thank Chad for the new icon... I captured it from his video! Thanks again Chad!

I'm planning on a Thursday fly at USS... Sniper will be there.

After last week I officially "hung" the Pitts, pretty plane, awesome flier, waaaay too iffy getting it off the ground. Everybody seems to have a WWII warbird so I may throw one of those back in the mix. I have an old Zero hanging around I may throw back in the air.... that or the Formosa.

For Saturday -- after last week I'm inclined to keep heading back to PGJHS until we officially get upstaged. When I met Chad there early it looked like they had soccer all set up for that week. It didn't happen.

Burgess was just plain scary. I've flown there for years and never seen it like that -- but that area is expanding so fast I guess it shouldn't surprise me. I do know of another park in West Lehi further north of the JHS we flew at a few times last fall. It should be well outside the 3 mile radius from the AMA field, but much closer to Camp Williams. The nice thing about it is it butts up against open state land. There is not as much open grass (quite a few trees), but there is enough to land on. And the "less open grass" means no soccer or baseball.

It's not an ideal place because of the trees in the park itself, but I have flown there and it is a great place to bring the fam... and I don't think we'll have competition.

I'll drive by there Saturday morning before I head to PG to check it out.

Darren

If you guys in Utah county run out of places to fly, come on up to the Oly Oval. The field behind is sloped so it's no good for soccer, Lacrosse etc. It's always open unless the silent flyers group is having a fly in.

Darren,

I've been searching for a place to fly in Lehi that's far enough away from the AMA field. could you give me the address for this park? (im new to lehi... don't know my way around yet ).

I've just been using some of the fields (Chruch Land ive been told) up in the north-east corner of lehi... Im getting sick of muddy fields
