Recently, under our testing, we are very supprised there is a problem for GWS ESC 15A to be match with with Futaba PCM system!

The initial signal from Futaba PCM system will make the programeable GWS ESC get erro reading.

The first lot fix type will be OK. Only 2nd lot of production ( programeable type ESC will be ).

Do you guys have tried with Futaba PCM?

We are keep trying. May be need to ask who own this ESC to send back for an exchange for a new ESC.

The last time I tried this early BIRD Program, the shipping cost from China gave me the BIRD Just too expensive.....I was trying to spring out a FORMOSA-II and shipping was $25.00 US

Now you know the problem faced by modelers ouside the USA when trying to order kits from there as US postage is more expensive than Taiwans. Luckily shiping costs from Taiwan to Australia are less than from Taiwan to the USA.

Ray, thanks for posting the ESC and programming card instruction sheets. I strongly suggest you have one of your early bird users with a command of the English language go through these instructions and edit them into understandable English... much has been lost in the translation. For example, I think you mean "Black Button", not "Black Bottom" And there is redundancy is wording which could be made simpler and easier to understand.

I can pretty much understand the DIP switch settings, but the use of the throttle stick to set anything makes no sense whatsoever! It sounds like the default settings can be re-set with the stick, but nothing else. If this is not the case, you need to explain it much better.

I'm also curious about the battery selection switches #2 and #3. They are described as needing to be both up or both down. What happens if one is up and the other is down? Someone will inevitably do this, either intentionally to see what happens or by mistake. This function has the potential to destroy a lipo pack and/or a plane if mis-set, so it needs to be as reliable as possible. If both switches need to be either up or down, why not use just one switch to do the job so the user is less like to make a mistake?

You might have an excellent product here, but poor instructions can frustrate potential buyers and discourage their trying one. From what I've seen, I'm in that category .... just trying to help...

Ray, this shows the 2212 motor to be first released as the 13 turn version. Is this correct, and are the test figures for this version poster earlier still accurate? It would be nice (necessary!) to have a more complete chart for this motor for a wider variety of props.

Hi Tom,

"Bottom" is an error, we'll correct it soon.

Setting on DIP switches would need to follow instructions excatly
as it is a part of program. Same on positions of throttle stick
when setting ESC. It seems not easy to modify/alter program
there.

That is cool, I can't wait for these motors to hit the shelves.

P.S.

It's probably stuff that everyone here is going to know, but not everyone who might buy it is going to be here.

The "manual" is not instructions they are cautions as to not burn up the motor.

Almost nothing on safe operation (to the person operating) the motor, how to connect it to the ESC, how to mount it DD or GB, installing the pinion gear, how to replace a pinion, says what the KV value is but not what KV is e.g. "RPM per volts," recommended cells, max amp burst, continuous amp draw, warranty and non-warranty repairs, and how to contact GWS. Not everyone has a computer to look up prop and batt charts.

As stupid as it may sound it is a liability to GWS if someone catches fire or cuts off a finger because of inadequate instructions and safe operation. I have seen people get sued for more stupid things than that and win.

The other liability is not being precise and clear what will and will not damage the motor and anything connected to the motor.

For example, there is nothing about must use BL ESC @ XXamps.

To the average customer who might be looking at this. You really need to assume you are writing to someone who knows nothing about it.

RE 1. I can see that on the chart.

RE 2. most are not going to know what they are running at in terms of W.

RE 4. Doesn't make sense. Does that mean it gives off toxins and I need to use the motor in a well ventilated space?

RE 5. means it still should work thought, right? You need to pick an number and be definitive e. g. will permanently damage motor above X degrees. "It doesn't say I can't run it above 70 degrees."

RE 6. Is duplication of 2. to some degree, and it is not real clear. What is the point?

a closed fuselage without having ventilation at all.

RE. 5 is a reminding also as this motor could not work well when
getting above 70 degrees C. (158 degrees F.) on itself. You could still run it if you would like having its performance decreased.

Running the motor without proper cooling and ventilation can cause permanent damage to the motor.

RE 5 Then you need to say performs best under 70 degrees or operating above 70 degrees will decrease the performance.

Be specific, and not so wishy-washy about important safety and performance operations.
