Can you help me with stabilizer design?

What is the proper (recommended) ratio of wingspan to horizontal stabilizer span for a conventional tail?

I would like to use a 50" wing that I have, and also a set of tail feathers that have a horizontal stabilizer span of 14". The wing chord is 7" and the horizontal stab chord is 2-3/4", with a 2" elevator.

The length of the fuse from the trailing edge of the wing to the leading edge of the stab is approximately 10".

Are these numbers in the ball park or totally out to lunch?

Thanks....

Jim

The tail moment is a bit short. It would fly a lot better with a longer tail momnet. I would go to 14 inches. The tail should then be more than adequate.

Sal,

The shorter tail moment will cause an increase in pitch sensitivity, correct? Does it appear that this design is not flyable, or will just be on the difficult side?

On free flight models I generally use 20% of the wing area.

Use a longer tail moment. The aircraft will not respond well.
