35" Waco YMF-5
Well, after a long wait, the parts are here and progress on the 35" Waco YMF-5 has finally begun!

Framing the Fuselage
The fuselage is a simple trussed box with 1/4 formers and stringers. The main frame is together, the formers glued in, and about half the stringers are in place. I'll leave the bottom stringers off untill all the equipment is in to keep access nice and simple.

Well, the long wait is over. Seems like it was a year ago that I saw the finished drawings! I am sure you will be finished with it by next week, right!

Wonderful news! I've been waiting - patiently

WooHoo, Pat!!!! Always room for a classic 30s biplane in my stable, esp. a Waco. I absolutely love them. Hope this one will be kitted. Took a ride in a friend's Waco UPF-7 many years ago complete with helmet and goggles. Now that's flying!!!
BTW, excellent service on getting me my Ercoupe plans which are just beautiful as always. |

Woooo! YEAH! Now I may need to recover my 60" Pica version to match. I think I'll see what I can find for a covering scheme (what, a year ahead of when I'll need it?

Still Working on the Fuselage.
Got the rest of the stringers on the fuselage, and also was able to get the stab saddle in place. The next move will be to go to work on the tail section.
This will be the 5th in the new series of R/C Electrics for Dumas. At the moment, it looks like a 2.8:1 S-280 on a 3 cell 700 Lipoly. The wing area is upwards of 345 sq. in, so will have plenty of area to support the projected 10 oz flying weight. |

maybe by the time its done some of us will have our pile of plane kits and plans cleaned up a little------NOT

Better get busy! Since the next three are not being held up by any other project Dumas may actually get them out quicker than the last bunch (I hope). And, YMF-5 was the weird way WACO had of designating its models. First letter was engine, next two were airplane configuration, cabin, open cockpit, taperwing, etc. They then used numbers for minor variations on a theme. Martin, Yellow with Green trim!! Hopefully I can find some Jade green The rest of us out here will have to hack in the ailerons, Pat's will be 3ch. charlie |
