I strapped my HD keychain cam onto the tail of the Siren at SEFF last week for three flights, here are the videos. First one was a test flight early Saturday AM before things got rolling:
Siren 1 (3 min 17 sec)

I flew it during the 'speed' slot and tried to chase some of the faster models - a lot harder than you'd think!
Siren 2 (8 min 1 sec)

This was the evening 'speed' slot. Winds were still pretty bad, I had to dork it on landing. No damage though, flew several more times:
Siren 3 (9 min 58 sec)

(Kontronik 480/33 4.2:1, 14.5x14 RFM, 3s5000mAh and a PHX-80 ESC)

While I will always love my Siren, I have decided to detune it, and move on to smaller and faster things.

Absolute Hotliner 4kW (2 min 4 sec)

I've just acquired a Siren! I have a couple of motors to choose from Mega 22/30/3 or AXI 2820/10. Which would be the better motor for this plane? I am leaning towards the mega as I worried about the wires rubbing on the axi can. Advice would be appreciated as this is my first venture into gliders. Currently up to page 20 reading this thread.

I am using the Mega motor on a tired 2500/3s with 11x6 cam prop it's pulling 500w. I tried a 11x8.5 but the battery was getting hot and no change in performance. Tough on the lipos at the moment with temps of 39 c here.
Think I'll wait until it cools down a bit then chop out the battery tray and shoehorn a 4s in there. Love the flying style of zooming up, hunting out thermals, then swooping down and pulling a few stunts.

Its probably doable depending on your car. The wing is thin and the chord of the wing isn't that big so it doesn't take up that much area. Getting it in and out of the car with out beating it up would probably be the biggest challenge you would have.

For many people, 1-piece wings are indeed a challenge..

Yes they are. I had to deal with that for a long time. I drive a four door short bed dodge 3/4 ton truck. Because of my work and tools I can't put any planes in the bed because they would get covered with diesel fuel. Stuffing planes in the cab of that truck was a huge pain in the behind. I finally got a trailer about a year ago and love it.

Not sure what happened to the rest of my post.

I thought I'd also said that a custom box can help protect them.

When I was having to carry them in a van or SUV loaded with other stuff, I made a pink foam box and put a wing rack in it. That could be put in first with a cover for lighter things on top, or put in last on top of everything else. Several people do this in the bed of a truck as well.

Andy, awesome review. Thanks so much!! I live in Cumming not too far from you. I built my Siren and wanted to put an Electrifly 28-56-1530kv Direct drive Brushless Inrunner to power it. All the specs seem to match up perfectly. I think this setup with a 3S 1P 2200mah battery would fly it perfectly as a warmliner. I would rather fly it like this first and then upgrade later If I want. Just wanted to know your opinion on this motor I have chosen. Also, the CG called for 2 1/8 from leading edge and I read a lot of the posts stating it would be better back a little bit. What do you think would be the best spot for this as a warmliner. Thanks for any input. Mitch
