The 2820/10 will fit w/o modification.

Wrap the wires up in tape or shrinkwrap.

Glue them to the bottom of the fuse.

Everything stays inside the fuse.

JuanPu,

Soho IS most correct. Through his inputs I decided to use the AXI 2826-10 motor in my Siren. I haven't flown mine yet, but I did install the motor. It fits fine and two of the screw holes in the firewall fit the Axi mount holes just fine. The ONLY thing you need to be careful of is the motor wire leads. With the AXI installed you need to make sure the wires are secured against the fuse so they don't rub on the rotating can. I used a long length of heat shrink on my wires then, after securing the motor to the firewall, put some hot glue on the heat shrink to ensure the wires don't rub the motor. The cooling holes in the nose of the fuse work great to put the hot glue in AND you can see the wires to make sure nothing rubs. All I need now is to clear the desk of other projects so I can modify for flaps and finish the assembly.

Incredible enough, with the Tower prices and volume/Super Saver Club discounts, besides the current $/€ ratio, it is usually cheaper buying there despite the shipping charges. It's a pity they do not sell radio equipment for 35 MHz

I have at home spare HS-81MG, HS-81 and HS-55 servos. Any recommendation?

BTW, where could I find information on the flaps modification?

An interesting and affordable modification.
Since this will be my first 'warmliner', I'll leave it unchanged until I get some experience though.

I assume using flaperons should improve a little bit the thermalling characteristics, shouldn't it?

I see someone has used HS-81MG for ailerons and HS-55 for the elevator. Is this a sensible arrangement?

And last question, has finally someone tried leaving the wing outer panels detachable?

Update on my Siren.

Flew it again yesterday, then noticed after landing that a bunch of the spinner material had been shaved off. On closer inspection, found the motor was loose! The severe brake on the Jeti 70A ESC I'm using had basically ripped the motor mount apart..

I'll reinforce this with some CF..

Is anybody still monitoring this thread? I am wondering which AXI to get - seems like I see two are being used: 2820/10 and 2826/10? Which is better? Just seeking everybodies opinions here!

Soho ... tnx for the quick reply. I just checked and the Siren Manual recommended max motor diameter is 37 mm and the 2826 series is 38 mm? Seems like that would eliminate the 2826. The 2820 is 35 mm. But it appears some have used the 2826???

I'm still monitoring it, but can't comment on AXI's. I prefer high performance motors in my high performance models!

I've repaired and reinforced the firewall, removed the battery tray so I can use side-by-side Sub-C packs now (have a 10 cell GP2200 pack to try) and switching to a Phoenix 80 ESC that will let me slope the brake ramp.
