Derick,

What can I say? I am in total awe of both your flying abilities, and your bravery for flying the herc like that on maiden! That limbo through the goal posts was excellent!

I'm still at the point where it's all I can do to fly nice easy patterns with mine at 100 feet, not 5 feet like you were doing.

Well done sir!

Pat

Nice. Did you say two TP2100 2s packs? Or a single 2s pack?
What's your weight, ready to fly?

Are you using the stock setup? If so, do you know how many amps it draws from the battery?

I have yet to see anyone make a belly lander version... Do you think that is a possibility?

EDIT --> I just watched the video. Wow, that airplane is BIG compared to the girl holding it at the start of the video. I could have lived the rest of my life without the icky rap music, but that's just me...
Hi Red, I am belly landing the herc and it is fine. I filled the wheel wells with pink foam and the whole thing in glassed with epoxy resina nd .05oz cloth. The landings are very scale and it just slides to a halt on grass. I really like the look of the plane in flight without the gear sticking out, I will post another vid sometime when I can get near somebody who is prepared to take some video.

Andy,

I'm sure he meant a single 2S TP2100. Absolutely no reason for 2 lipos in this bird. The motors would cook in a heartbeat.

Two in parallel would work, you'd be able to fly all day though!

My latest GWS creation and my first attempt at "weathering". Have not flown her yet. She's light 13oz. auw using the GWS 350B motor, 480li esc and a 2C 1200mah lipo.

If anyone can recommend a perfect prop with amp draw for this setup I'd appreciate it. Consider that I have the option for B, C, or D gearing.

For anyone interested in my pilot, I discovered him at Wal-Mart for .97 cents under the label "The Corps - commando force". There were a few different pilot-ish types to choose from. After getting home I discovered that they were hollow and screwed together with a single phillips style screw. So I took out the screw, split the body, removed the legs, and threw in a nylon wing bolt in its place, and put it back together. With the wing bolt and the nut he whole thing weighs a half ounce. Not bad for .97 cents.

Wow! Very nicely done. I've always liked that "trainer Zero" orange paint scheme.

yeah!

A really good example for weathering a warbird!! How did you manage the weathering on the cowl an nearby the cockpit? Do you have a link for the www. for that interesting trainer color scheme? The reason is, that I just have my GWS-Zero in my workshop and it will be colored in the next days. Perhaps I take the same trainer- scheme..... and tomorrow I go to the Wal-market looking for a "Kamikaze-pilot"! Hope "he" is available in Germany too!

cheers

There are very few "trainer" pictures in color. Aside from the one I posted above that came out of a WWII warbird book I could only find this one.

Paint chips were done using silver paint and a small brush. I tried to chip mostly along panel lines where normally paint would start to chip from. Just have to play around with the technique and hope for the best.

Thanks to GWS for these great little airplanes, "keep them coming"

This plane flies really good, I love the way it looks, the way it turns, the way it glides! I'm so happy with this little airplane.

Flight was 20 minutes and the bat. was half the way.

to download the video right click HERE and save target as.

enjoy

Derick....

I saw your C-130 is still missing the Coast Guard logo...
I liked yours so much that I built one for myself now in the Coast Guard look.

As the logo on the side of the airplane I found this pretty good and very printable picture:
http://www.militaryplaques.com/Seals...guard-seal.jpg

Printed it out in 3,5cm and it looks perfectly scale....

Sven

P.s: The blue strip is still missing, but Im not finished yet...
