OT: Looks like I'm an Ebay seller now...So this is a Paypal question

I have been an Ebay buyer for a long time.
Have a Paypal account but I am not verified. Do not
have a premier account, That means Paypal doesn't have
access to my checking account and I can't accept
payments that were made by a credit card.

So the question:
Is it worth it to get verified? Paypal screwed me once long ago.
I am gun shy about giving them direct access to my bank
account. On the subject of paying the higher rate to accept
CC payments, is it worth it for a guy that will only sell once
in a while?

Just keep you personal account and accept paypal balance and paypal transfer
as well as echeck..and of course mail in payments... m.o. and certified
cashiers/bank checks..a paypal personal account has a max receiving limit of
$500.00 per month.

Pay Pal sucks since you have to pay for there service and loss money, But I
think you'll attract more buyers.
I know when I purchase off eBay, that I'm just too impatient and want the
item NOW! So being able to pay with a CC makes that possible.
And the benefit is you get the money in your PayPal account faster, of
course they will charge you to transfer the money to your bank if it's under
150$.
All said yes it's worth it, even though I grumble about it.

Re: Looks like I'm an Ebay seller now...So this is a Paypal question

A PayPal Personal account will not charge you to transfer money to and from
your bank account, no matter what the minimum. It's just that you can only
receive $500 max per month. If you are selling $500 or less per month this
is ideal... the key is just to help people understand that they can use
PayPal for payment, but, not a credit or debit card. Majority of PayPal users
dont understand they can transfer money into their PayPal account with their
credit or debit card,or with bank account transfer, then they can pay for
items from their PayPal Balance to sellers who accept PayPal for a personal
account (no debit/credit).
I have never had a problem with PayPal, just with PayPal users who do not
understand how you can accept PayPal without accepting credit/debit cards.

Re: Looks like I'm an Ebay seller now...So this is a Paypal question

So if I read you right, you lean toward giving them access to my checking
account but the added cost they hit me for the CC services may not be
worth it to me, the sub-$500 per month seller.

I guess I can deal with that. I am gun shy because a few years ago Paypal
"accidently" pulled $1700. from my checking account and took over
a month to "fix" their error.
I have heard that they are somewhat better at keeping things in order now,
but as I said, gun shy.

John

Yep.. look at it this way..even if you dont take paypal and are going sell
on ebay..they have your info anyway, as I am pretty sure that ebay owns
paypal....either way they will have access to your checking/banking (for
seller fees).......
Another option, if feasible, is to set up another bank account just for
selling.....
Good Luck
