Taboo GT feed back - infos

Hello,

Some own the new TABOO GT ?
Possible to have some infos ?
How are going the new airfoils, wing planform, ect ?
How is the light weight in windy day ?
Reliability of the light wing spars?
And so...

I dont have mine yet but it should be in with in a week. All I can say is that I saw Oleg fly it two Saturdays ago and he did better than the rest of us. No surprise there. The workmanship is outstanding which is something everyone who owns a Taboo knows. The new pod is nicer and lighter than on the XT. The wing is a bit thinner in chord but still based on the SuperGee airfoils. It was pretty windy at times and the new wing handeled it great. I saw enough to get me to put an order in. I will post pics when it comes in...

Pod look very nice.
I owned a allow wing TURBO, with all moving tail.
You know it ?
265 g in fly order.
I wonder why still not all moving tail on Taboo ?
Triming is easyer with all moving tail,
just CG to trim, not wing incidence...

I've only flown mine on a few outings due to soggy field conditions and weather. But I can launch it higher than my XP4 and it seems to penetrate upwind just as well - unballasted at 9.1 oz. I haven't flown it in the same conditions as my Photon II but it's a floater in light lift.

Construction and finish is outstanding. I bought the plane RTF from Oleg. Wing goes on with 1 screw and there are no funny noises on launch. It's survived early and late (hooked) releases along with a few landing oops. The tail feathers are very light. I was concerned about their apparent fragility at first but they have held up so far.

Even with just initial impressions, I like it so much I ordered a backup

mine is nearing completion,

i ordered mine with rudder and pushrods installed. The quality of the kit is the best i've seen.

mine is bang on 8.5oz all up weight with d4.7s all round and 450mah 2s lipo

Using those 4.7s and lipo, are you able to locate the CG w/o any ballast?

I'd be curious to know as well. With D60's in the wing, D47's in the fuse, Berg 4 RX and 0.015" music wire antenna - I had to squish the 350maH pack all the way forward to get the CG to the rear of recommended range. It flys with just a hint of positive stability at this CG setting.

i have managed to have about an hours flying time with mine now

it balances right at the rear of the CG range with the 4x4.7s and 450mAh 2s lipo. It flys with neutral stability at this. I might put a couple of grams in the nose just to smooth her out a little.

first flights are encouraging, getting around 1min30s flights on a 3/4 power launch. (I have quite a strong launch, so like to work up to 100% slowly in case the model shows any sign of not taking it.)

One thing that is really noticable is how much authority the rudder has. I am sure this is because the wing tips are so light there is no real inertia to overcome with a yaw.

I had a couple of 3 min flights with it in its first session, so its looking encouraging.

its about 40" less than the XT, which i think used pretty much the traditional sgII wing as a guide.

because its so light the loss in wing area has no effect at all on the sinkrate of the GT, penetration seems significantly better than on my xp4 and blaster.

the light wing tips make an unbelievable difference to the rudder control authority. i hardly touch the ailerons anymore.

I have not reinforced them yet on the gt, its possible i might if i see any flutter. (i wanted to get out and fly it as quick as possible, so was lacking the patience to do it)

I did reinforce them on my blaster as the aileron hinge is quite a lot stiffer on that.. again I have not seen any flutter on that.

either way it adds so little weight, reinforcing it can only help.

Any chance you can comment on HOW you reinforce these tiny arms. I am considering the same thing. I tried putting some very thin CF on some pieces and it seems to hold. Any pictures?
