Hyperion Emeter software available

The software to use with Hyperion's Emeter is available at AircraftWorld . Allows graphing and logging, etc. I've just installed it and have to cobb together something to test it out with.

Active lead - cheaper to buy one from ACW than risk draining the meter batteries.

Why is the cable a serial cable? More and more PCs are coming without serial connections. Seems to me USB would have been the way to go.

My thought exactly. Serial ports are quickly becoming a legacy port. There are USB-to-serial adaptors out there, but that's an extra cost item.

No serial port on my laptop. I had to buy a serial-2-usb, for $30. That sucks but now it's done.

I understand that Aircraft-world is going to sell the serial to USB adapters at a very reduced price. Something around $20 bucks, I think. I still think making a USB cable would be the best way to go.

Although I've never designed anything for USB, I know www.cypress.com has USB controller IC's that run for about $3.00 USD in quantities of 50-ish. Some of them are designed for minimal external components (one doesn't even need an external crystal for a clock).

Dare we ask for a V2?

Still, the E-meter seems to have lots of nice features.

You'll get no complaints out of me! I love it. Plus it's very small.
