Any of the good heli shops should carry Ray's Authoritative Guide by Ray Hostetler or Basics of Radio Control Helicopters by Paul Tradelius.

Ray's book is more techincal but very thorough.
Paul's book is basic and very easy to understand.

Good luck.

Ray's Authoritative Helicopter Manual is one of the best.

Yes, my vote would also go for Ray's Authoritative Helicopter Manual. He only considers IC helis though, but it's good for all the common stuff - building, setup, learning to fly, etc.
