The tail is pretty stiff, but not rock solid like an Opus.If I hold the fuse 6" in front of the tail, and apply downward pressure on the nose, it is very stiff. If I let the plane lie on the carpet with one wing tip touching and apply sideways pressure on the vertical stab,there is a little bit of twist.This is probably normal with a streamlined fuse, as this bird was designed for frontside all around flying,not ment to be a rock solid ds airframe.
I don't have experience with dsing but would think your money would be be
better spent, (although you would spend more )on an opus,or carbon blade.
If you go to Pierre Rondel's Planet Soaring website, he has a review of the X Race 1.5 m.

Z06kal, the tail looks pretty stout with a carbon joiner rod, and 2 mounting pins (front and rear). There was a slight left/right play in the assembly when I looked at last night, but that was without linkages fully hooked up for a true test.

PS Sal had the Epsilon at $429.00 for at least a month now, when ZB had them for $329.00 I jumped!

Kawika when you say a little bit of twist. Do you mean like one inch at the top or do you mean like you can twist the whole 45 degrees? Also how stiff is the horizontol stab under the same test? Maybe I could carbon bag the horizontol stab and the fuse.

Yea, about an inch at the top of the vertical,maybe a little more if you wanted to force it.Some of this is probably from flex in the wing tip.The horizontal stab is stiff, there is about 3/8" of play at the tip of the stab.

Kawika thanks for all your info dude! I'd love to see some close up pictures of the plane. Especially of the tail! Are the flaps bottom or top hinged?

X Race 2.02m has , flaps bottom hinged with wipers. Comes with servo bays precut in wing,clevises with threaded couplings,pushrods installed in fuse,
servo covers, even has covers for flap linkage on top of wing.There are no
horns,but you wanted to make your own right?Instructions are in French,
LOL( I've got a french friend who builds planes).This is a real nice plane for the $.

Can you measure how far the hinge line is from the trailing edge spar in the wing? Want to see how much room there is to cut into the skin and glue some counterweights to the flaps/ailerons without having to cut into the trailing edge spar.

Space between hinge line and spar is 7/16" on flaps, and about 6/16" on ailerons.
Don't forget the wiper takes up some of this space at the hingeline.

David - Maybe the pop-up blocker in Opera is stopping the new manage attachments window from opening up. Try changing the settings to disable the pop-up blocker while you're on the Groups?
