Frozen engines

What would be the best liquid to soak a frozen engine in to free it up.

Thanks in advance

If its just frozen from fuel residue, put it in the oven at around 150 for a few minutes, it will free it right up.

Just soak it in glow fuel for a few hours or overnight. This should free it up enough to get it apart. Clean the bearings thoroughly before running and make sure they spin free.

Check out the April issue of Model Aviation for how to use lacquer thinner to free up an engine.

I agree with Cue.

I've seen a couple of stuck engines over the years, heat will loosen the grip. Then, when you get the engine out of the oven, offer it a generous ammount of WD-40 to really dissolve the goo and then dismantle and check the bearings.

While you're at it, clean all parts with WD-40 and ensure all the goo is gone before assembly. When putting it back together, use WD-40 to lubricate the piston/sleeve and all other parts that will rub against eachother.

This ought to solve your problem.

Solvents also do a good job, but ensure you have a well ventilated workspace when using them! *nag, nag, nag*....
