New Pico Cub full fuse AND GWS Tigermoth!

2 weeks back my shop got in the new full fuse GWS Pico Cub. Wow, for $45 its a WONDERFUL deal! Its so much better looking than the fused Pico Stick and is one of the best looking slow flyers Ive ever seen! Only weighs 1/2 ounce more, and flies just as well as a Pico/Lite stick and the Pico Cub.

This week here in Vegas was the anual model show and expo. Horizon had the new GWS Tigermoth slow flyer with em. WOW, it looked grwat and flew really well too! Only $55, its another great deal from GWS! You can get these from horizonhobby.com (The Cub now, not the Tigermoth yet).

Just a heads up!

Got 1 flight on mine and it seems to be real sweet. Looks a LOT better than the sticks. I did add some down thrust and need to try that out now. On the first flight I could tell it needed something because it went up under power and then you had to trim it down to fly level. Then when you throttle back the nose drops because you have the down trim in there. 2 degrees of down thrust should help that.

I bought the stik with the fuse and MAN am I impressed - big smiles everytime I fly! I put 2 stips of CF on the LE and TE of each wing, opened up the battery bay to accept 7 cells of NiMh 600 mA, and MAN! (did I say that)is it smooth! Takes off and actually climbs until I cut power, and can fly at 1/2 throttle. Much more stable that my pevious 3 sticks, and does beautimous touch-n-go's! Can't believe the fuse makes that much of a diff, but MAN!

I bought some close out cell phnoe batteries, and they had flat 1/4"x5/8"x2" 600mA NiMh's in them. I put together some 8 cell pack, and they will fit in the normal 7 cell space - What a performaer. I've had it up over 500 foot, and have got 20 minutes out of the battery!

Can't wait to try the others!

LVRCFlyer,
I'll be in Vegas next week for a few days. I should be able to manage some shopping time. Which LHS is the best for electric pilots? Thanks.

Monty -

I actually work for the local HobbyTown USA. I order and stock a good bit of electric stuff, but Im always running out so quick! We're low right now, waiting for new stuff from Hobby Lobby, Multiplex and others...most of which wont be here for a few weeks. We do have the full fused Stick and Cub, along with some other slow flyers. Right across the street is HobbyPeople. They have a lot more stuff right now, though most of it is stuff they dont know anything about. I think only one guy over there knows anything about electrics....I get 1-2 guys a week who come in with the WRONG stuff they sold em at HobbyPeople. Today a guy came in with a Wattage Hawk. Its a S400 ship. They sold him an 8 cell 1500 Sub-C pack and a 6 channel radio with FULL SIZED servos! Oh well, guess not everyone knows enough...even if it says what to buy outside the box! Still, they have a whole area dedicated to electrics...I mostly special order and tailor to specific needs of guys...they dont do that as much. We're the best two in town, and right next to each other!

Jason I hope you check back on this because I enjoyed your message. Due to an unhappy experience at another one of the Hobbytown stores I just dropped in at Hoppy People when I was in Las Vegas visiting my brother. They had what I needed but those there that day didn't know electrics at all. I now know someone to send my brother to if he has troubles with the Beleriot II or Dragonfly I made for him.
Both stores are at a major intersection in Las Vegas in a nice part of town. Mike

Hi Michael!

Sadly, ALL hobby shops are different! Its a shame my HobbyTown cant stock as much as HobbyPeople does for electrics....Id have a field day if we could! Ive been to lots of hobby shops, and only a small few have had "really" knowledgeable staff at all. Its hard to find a guy into the hobby and working for minimum wage to help others out...I do it part time for fun, as I find it stress relief. I love helping when and wherever I can! If your brother ever needs anything, he can email me too. I have a Bleriot II myself...3 years old and still going! I think I might use the wings and build a new fuse/tail in a low wing configuration for fun! Good luck,

Jason
