I've just got three right now, but I should have my underwater camera system up and running in a few weeks. Once that's done, there'll be tons of great above and underwater footage on my site:

In the meantime, enjoy:

It's scaled 1:80, 1.454 meters long, meanwhile 24 years old but still in best condition and technically up-to-date with proportional tank control system, build from a kit from Engel Modellbau, Germany.

It has two piston tanks with 750 ml reach. Both have servo control and can be controlled independently.
Taking that video was not so easy as Iwas alone and had only one hand for steering and the other for the camera, so the diving scenes are dynamic with pre-flooded tanks.

Gerd,

thanks. Looks bigger in the water. I could swear the footage looks slowed down as the boat has a big feel the way it moves the water. Great job.

I'm working on a 1/96 scale scratch build of the 598 right now.

Steve, you are right. The video has been slowed down, so the sub looks quite big on it. At that day there have been ideal conditions, with the right wind and sun. Not so good was the dirty water and the pool is quite small...

I thought so. I work in visual effects for film and that's what we do to give a model scale. Very nice!

1.5 litres of tank capacity. Seems a lot for a boat of that size.

Ahhh, just had a gander at the engel site. The Patrick Henry looks like it is vitually a dry hull design, so a lot of water to displace!

Yes and the advantages are: you have plenty of space within the boat and 1,5 kg of security lift in case of emmergency.
My Henry is driven by a 12V 7Ah pb battery which gives enough power for more then four hours of operation. Normally my transmitter battery is emptied first
