Just wanted to inform the folks about this event coming up in Orange County California.

I didn't know that the EDF event at Visalia is on that weekend. I wish I can attend all the events, but May 7+8 is the bent wing contest that I am suppose to fly in. And if I drive back to Visalia the following week, the wife may not be too happy we'll see...

This was the date the club set at the last meeting. I volunteered to help so hopefully I can promote it and help run it as professional as I can given all the circumstances.

Last year we had maybe 20-25 participants. My goal is to get 50+. This is only the 2nd annual one, but we are making great strides already. I am working on putting up a charging station on the storage facility. I have the plans drawn and construction clothes bought Just need final approval from the executive council.

I am also responsible for getting some sponsorship which have been great so far. (Thank You to the companies that have stepped up to the plate, they are on the Flyer on our website, more will be up as they give me feedback). This is an open event for ANYONE with AMA membership.

And to ALL:

We are giving raffle tickets to all those that sign up for the event, and to club members that volunteer to help marshall that day. All donations will be raffled off before end of day.

We are in the process of getting awards for the individual events (maybe plaques). And of course will mention all winners on the website. The application will be up shortly. If anyone wants to sign up now and reserve frequencies, they can email or pm me.

We are looking for a few pilots to do some Electric demonstartion flying of their planes at our 2nd Annual Electric Fun Fly. Let me know what you got. The more bizzarre the better.

Has to be electric powered of course.

We have our club Electric Jet expert, HERB doing Electric ducted fan jet demonstrations and also Steve from Dreamhobbies.com will be doing some electric heli demos so come and check 'em out.

Herb I can pencil you in for 4 demo flights if you are up to it. Otherwise, at least 2 flights for sure. You have the whole field to yourself for anything fast .

Also there's open flying before 9AM and 3 - 30 minute time slots of open flying for the more typical stuff.

All Radios will be impounded.

I'll have my digital camera (Canon 10D) but I dont have the 200mm lense.

Thanks for the pixs. If you could get a bunch of UCI students to come and watch that would be great also.

Regarding Food...

YES, there will be hamburgers, hotdogs and soft drinks available for purchase.

HERB, Any chance you can bring the FLEET?

There will be a charging station that will handle 12 chargers simultaneously rather handily. Power is 13.4V @90 amps continuous, plus we have about 4 marine batteries for use.

No need to lug your 12v Bats.

I'll be there with a couple of Planes, and a couple of Helis...

can anyone fly, or is it restricted?

Normally, anyone can fly at the park. However, on the day of event, we can only allow AMA members to fly since this is an AMA sanctioned event.

At about 5pm, the field will be "reopen" for general public flying.

Again, all radios will be impounded. Pilots are only allowed to fly by checking their radio out of impound.
