Alfa Mig-15 Himax 2015-4100 11.1V or 14.8V?
I have just completed my Mig 15 with all the wing reinforcement updates I found posted plus a few extras I thought up. With a Himax 2015-4100 and a fully charged Thunder Power 3s 1320 11.1V pack, at 100W, 9.5A the thrust as well as I can measure it is appx. 10 oz. I drilled 8 extra .125"cooling holes around the outside perimeter of the fan motor mount to get cooling air across the motor surface and drilled the same amount of holes in the fan unit tail cone to exhaust out into the fan stream. I have no way of measuring motor temperature. The complete loaded plane weighs 16.5 oz and produces roughly 10 oz. thrust. Am I going to be too underpowered for reasonable flight?
I would rather not go to a larger motor. I made a series connector for 2 Thunder Power 2s 1320 packs I had laying around. Ive only run it for short periods but on the 14.8V I get appx. 18oz thrust at 185W, 14A with fully charged packs. The all up weight went to 18.5 oz. Almost 1 to 1 T/W ratio.
My flying is limited to small fields. I am rarely WOT for more than 4-5 second climbs and would be content to fly most of the flight at 2/3 to 3/4 throttle. I just want to be able to launch well and get quick short climbs.
Has anyone tried this motor/battery combination or is able to take an educated quess. Should I be changing the timing (normal)or frequency(normal) on my CC 25 ESC? Thanks for any help. Rich Graf

from what I know and thats not saying alot , the plane shold fly good , not vertical , but fly well when on step , you might want to try a 3sp rated at a least 12 c for that setup , that way you shold see the trust-amps go up
polyquest 1450 c packs that I have been using seem to work great , keep us posted on the flight , craig
