Gloster Gladiator parkflyer

I've started a new parkflyer project, this time it's the Gloster Gladiator.

Specs:
scale: 1:13,33
wingspan: 74,2cm
Full house control (not flaps)
IPS DX-A drive (might need to go up to brushless power)

The fuselage and top wing plans are ready. And I'm still working on the bottom wing.

looks like a very good start- i still have the gladiator my list of planes to build also--

i had one with ski's on it in my scale model section and sold it..its was silver with norwegian markings--

not sure which one i am going to do as a park flyer-have decided on colors and markings yet?

also --just curious, i have never seen a gladiator on floats, have you?

I going to paint is as one of the Gladiator Mk.I of F-19, the Swedish Volunteer Unit in Finland during 1939-1940.

As for a Gladiator on floats, I have never seen one either. But the Sea Gladiator did operate for aircraft carriers.
This subject needs some investigation.

i regard to the scratch built plane--its a very good start--and i have to admire you for doing such a first rate job on a scatch built plane--the pictures are inspiring--

That p-38 you made was striking --i would almost be afraid to fly such a fine show quality plane..

in regard to the maxecuters kit--(i hope i spelled it right)

i have the kit --and like Pat said--its beautiful--i just posted the sig canopy needed and it can be modified to look better than the plain canopy--i think one of the guys is working on a vac form item also..if you want the sig item--go to the hobby store and have them order it for you--sig only sells to hobby stores.

when i got the kit--it was more expertly packaged than i could ever imagine--from the box and pictures to the wonderful plans--the stringers and stock are best made using a master airscrew stripper and contest grade balsa from a good retailer of contest grade balsa.

Mr Hunton was a great guy to communicate with also--no doubt a first rate group of guys!

I have an old Aeromodeller peanut plan I want to enlarge & do for geared IPS. The wee-thing is so detailed, it looks like a plastic model! Yours looks GREAT! >tips hat< Who's plans are you using to build? or are you doing your own? I've signed on to this one, and looking forward to more photos! NICE building so far! keep it coming! Bob

Stop tempting me with the maxecuters kit.

Well, I have just tried to fly the P-38 one time, but I couldn't get the thing of the ground. I think it had to do something with the Du-Bro parkflyer skies I had on and the three blade props. I'm going to try with two blade props and a smaller battery.

The plans are self-made, from a three-view I found at www.airwar.ru

I got all the plans finished yesterday. The construction metode is the same as on the J-22 that I and my brother did some time back.

But this time I'm going to plank the front and middle, and use stringer on the back half. Like on the fullsize plane.

Very Impressive!.......

I'm TRUELY impressed!... You & your brother make quite a team!... I've had some sucsess doing plans from scratch, but I'd much prefer taking another design, changing & modifying it to my needs.
Here is the Gladiator I was talking about... (I couldn't get the whole plan in the scan, sorry... ) My idea is to enlarge to about 30" and add improvements to suit electric micro R/C and appearence. If you plan on sharing yours like the J-22 in zip files, I might end up going with yours. It looks fabulous so far! Bob

My plan is to post the plan after I had built and test flown the plane. So that I could work out any problems with the design.

I might start on the bottom wing, if I get some free time tomorrow.

I got the canopy and bottomwing built. Had to cut out 30 wingribs and now I only have 24 to go for the topwing.
