Is this a good setup for a TM400 (and other GWS planes as well)
will it be verstile for other planes as well (gws warbirds, magpie)
Himax 2025-4200/Cobri 20 Gearbox, Red, 11T, 72T
Castle Creations Phoenix 25 brushless speed controller
Tanic 3s 2220 12C Lithium Polymer battery pack

This setup will probably not turn the prop more than 7K RPM, so an SF prop is probably good on the TM 400. The Cobri gearbox is nice & has adjustable ratios - so that will be useful in other setups - as will the speed controller.
The 3s 2200 battery is pretty heavy - but you could always go to a 2-cell and lower the gearbox ratio. If you change to a 14T pinion you have 5.1:1 ratio and could swing a 12x4.7 prop on 2 cells with good thrust I bet (this is where MOTO-CALC comes in handy...)
Bottom line - this setup will probably be 10x the power you need to enjoy a TM 400, hang on :-)

The 12x6 will give far too much thrust but it will not give enough speed to fly the TM 400 with safety. You will be hanging around the two times stall speed and this is not fast enough to fly with ailerons. A change to an APC 10x7 Slowfly wil raise the speed to 2 1/2 times stall speed which will be much better.
But the main problem is that the geabox ratio is 6.6:1 and this is to high to be of use for the faster GWS aeroplanes including the Warbirds. A gearbox ratio of between 4:1 and 5:1 would be much better.
