What motor for 50th birthday?

I want to sweeten the sadness of getting half a century old with some consistent present and am thinking of buying a pair of BL motors and controllers. I am stuck on the Hacker A20-22L. Pros and cons? What ESC? Other ideas?
I like bimotor planes, no 3D interest, my flying skills still suck and I am tired of bending the flimsy shafts of the GWS style gearboxes.

Thanks,
S55

Growing old isn't all it's cracked up to be but it sure beats the alternative.

54 here too, maturity still not on the horizon.

I have 7 AXI's so I guess you could say I'm partial to outrunners. Two (AXI 2814-12's) are going into a Twin Otter that is still on the board. I've flown them with CC 25's and various Jeti Advance controllers and have never had a controller problem. The Jeti's are simpler to use but the Phoenix-link software closes the gap quite a bit in this regard.

I'm even older, so forgive me if I keep repeating myself!

The Hacker A20-22L will be essentially the same as the Torque 22T/930Kv (from www.extremeflightrc.com) - so here are some numbers for THAT for you to peruse. PH 25's are great.

I think Dick Hanson is flying with one or more Hacker A20's - check with him for his opinions.

Cheers, Phil

(Tongue firmly in cheek)

Look for one that draws 50 amps at 50 volts giving 50k rpm to a prop with 50 cm pitch....

Happy birthday

With that set-up, chances are less than 50:50 that he'll survive to see 51!

Dr Kiwi,
Now I am confused. The Torques are very attractive indeed. I still have time to make up my mind.
Thank you all for advice and wishes,
S55
