Yes I have and pitch speed is way down on the 12x 3.8 me don't likey. The current Draw is around 11-12A IIRC, I have also run the 12x6 sf and current is a bit more maybe 13. Seems to dog on the 12x6 and a lighter pack of Apogee 860's. Have not flown it with a 3s pack of tp2100 cause the weight gain out weights the benefit of that motor on lighter 3d stuff.

Touche. Ain't competition grand?

Sorry,

The Hacker I'm considering for the FoamtanaS is the A20-22L !

Would this motor A20-20L or A20-22L be a good candidate for the Mini Funtanta or the Quiet Storm (24-26 oz 3D)?

It seems the Axi 2808/24 is popular for these two but is being pushed a little closer to its limits than I would like. A motor of equal weight that could take these kinds of amps (20-25) on a 3S pack would be great!

Thanks!

Harley has mentioned the use of the HAcker 20-20L in his Funtana, real good performance and about an ounce lighter than the 2808 Axi. But for what it is worth the Axi is being pushed to 26 or 27A from what I have read. The hacker is also being pushed beyond its recomended 16A range to almost 22a Burst.

What is the thrust like?..That depends on how you prop it. I would say with a 10x4.7 it is generating 30-35oz. This is a wild guess since I don't have a thrust stand. I know it will hover a 19-20oz plane at about half throttle and climbout at a very quick pace.

I have a video of it flying my 3dfoamy tiburon around the back yard (16 oz's). You can see the vertical. It's cold (45 F) and the battery wasn't full but I feel like it's got great pull. The tp 1320 3 cell may not be enough battery. I may invest in some stronger cells.

Hope this helps you determine vertical performance,
Craig

How does the hacker compare to a PJS 800? I've been looking at the PJS 800 and Nippy Black 1812 for a Magpie for Aerial Photography. The plane will probably be around 30 oz. with my camera.

Nice flyin Craig, that does look like the batteries are the issue in the pull out, with a 2100 pack the pull out is about twice that speed at 19 oz.

I've tested all the Torque series which are directly comparable to the Hacker A20 series.

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336486

But I wasn't trying to push 20+A through a 16A max 20L motor, or trying to equate them with an AXI 2212/34 (10A max) being asked to turn a 12x4.7 at 15A or more, or trying to pull 15-20A out of a 1320 pack, or asking an Apogee 830 to provide the juice for a 12x6 on the AXI 2212/34, so you'll find my numbers conservative.

Dr. Kiwi. THanks for those charts. I was just stating that I liked the motor. I love my axi and realize that it isn't the same motor or windings so not a fair comparison. I'm really just trying to find the best battery/prop combo for this motor.

I'm using the recomended prop. apc sf 10-4.7 with a 3 cell pack. Did you test the same extreme flight motor with this prop? I see you used a gws 10-6 I think. What would you recomend for this motor?

Thanks a bunch,
Craig

Hello Dr. Kiwi,

You have been a great service to the hobby, Thank you!!

Regarding your quote "I've tested all the Torque series which are directly comparable to the Hacker A20 series."

I am a little confused? How are these motors directly comparable?

The Hacker A20 Motors were developed in Germany for Production in Asia.
I have just come from Asia, and I have seen about 25 different small Outrunner Designs!!!! Many are clones of existing motors, however none of these producers really understand the actual engineering only the dimensions they can copy.

Maybe, The Torque motors are simply a copy of the Original Hacker A20....

I have not flown the larger hackers although I have an A20-20L waiting for the right plane but the A20-28 and A20-30 are awesome and eat axi 2208-34's for breakfast. Pullout is better, longer flight times and hover at less clicks. They run cool as cucumbers. I just wish Hacker would make a front wobbly prop adapter for the motor when you use a firewall mount as the Axi front wobbly mount won't fit and I make my own from large servo horns but they don't hold up well. Through the firewall mounting leaves a 3mm shaft sticking out and there is a good selection of wobbly prop adapters to fit a 3mm shaft out there. NICE MOTORS!!!!

They should make a stick mount adaptor for these things... it wouldnt be that hard... just a plate in the front that screws into hte motor connected to a square piece of aluminum. maybe i could make one..... this looks nice for my fancyfoam.com plane
