I am wondering whether, in fact, the Kv's ARE the same. Whether the observed numbers imply (thank you, fellow pedant!) better efficiency is hard to say, without knowing the "real Kv figures". That sort of leap in efficiency is hardly credible - it's easier (but possibly quite erroneous) just to say the Torque's Kv might be a bit higher than the specs say.

According to hacker's advertising...

"This motor features Oversize bearings, Curved Neo-magnets, and High efficiency stator design. These motors produce the most power at lower current consumption than other popular Outrunner designs!"

It seems that I've also read somewhere that they're Kv's are the ones "considered" to be wrong becuase of the higher efficiency.

Again, I'm just going off what I've read in ads and websites.

using the 11x7 GWS HD on the 20/20L AND 20/22L , w/ 1320 yellow stripe TB 3 cells.
12.5 oz models AUW
I never pull more than 17 amps -due to small connectors -but there is NO -None NYET, heating problem in batt/controller or motor.

If you want to see really spectacular performance - try these -they run smoother than the APC and pull like crazy.

Do you like the 20L or 22L better with the 11 x 7 HD prop? I use that prop all the time... a little better thrust than the APC 10 x 7 SF, but with a little LESS amp draw as well. I'm strongly considering the 22L and would likely use this prop but on 8-cell NiMH packs for now.

Either motor -works great.
the alternative APC SF prop is the --11x4.7
note that I am using a 12oz model -which greatly reduces work required by the motor ---so less work = less load = less amps

if someone gives me a no-load and loaded rpm, volts and amps readings for each motor i'll let you know how close the stated Kv's are

I don't fly 3D... I haven't tried the 11 x 4.7 APC SF, and doubt it would give me enough pitch speed. I was just mentioning that I have used the 10 x 7 APC SF until I found that the GWS 11 x 7 HD is functionally equivalent to it in terms of thrust and amp draw, being just a small notch better in both categories with similar pitch speed as well. I think I'd opt for the 22L given my desire to use 8-cell NiMH packs now, with eventual upgrade to 3S Lipos. Both of my current outrunners (AXI and Himax have kV of 840 & 850, repectively, so the 22L would be a closer match to what I have.

Frank, i would think that either motor would do you well, if it is out right speed your looking for consider a smaller higher pitched prop like a 8x6 or 9x6.

As a side note I have tested the 20L on 2s pack of 1320's with 12x3.8 prop and it drew 13-14A for roughly 110watts woould like to see what a 13X4 3d prop would do, i need to get a tach.

i have mounted the 22L that i recieved in a fancy foam 300L with a apc sf 10-4.7 prop.
a tp 2100 lipro .
cc pheonix 25 controler.
hi tec 6 ch radio .
hitec s55 servos.
the plane weighs about 16.5 oz.
does any body have any idea as to how good opr bad this will work?
where can i get a A20 20L?
i tried two hobby shops and ended up with a 22Lone said he had some motors coming in but did not know when or if there would be a 22L in the ones that are coming.
where and how do i get one or two?
do you think there might be some at the seff meet in andersonville ga this month?
this is only about a three hour drive from LA to there.always a dollar short and a day late.

The set up you have will provide plenty of power, close to 140 watts per lb and probably 2:1 thrust ratio. It sounds as if you are very unsure of this, go fly the plane and then report back, once you wipe the smile off your face.

i put it altogether and gave it full throttle seems to have lot more pull than the himax 2015-4100
will see how it goes probably sunday TO WINDY TOMORROW.

The Himax is only a 110watt motor, you have closer 140-150w now with the 22L and could push it closer to 175 watts. Thats the power of the 2025-4200. Give us a shout on Sunday...
