Printed P51 Build
Print is from t1mux. Originaly from wcflyer.
32" WS cambered, CF tubes, 5mm Sturdyboard. First step, rough cut the print and foam. Soak and strip the Sturdyboard. Last edited by ldammann; Mar 04, 2005 at 08:29 AM. |

Locate where the wing CF will go. I used 30% cord. Use router or cut a v for the tube.

Glue in the CF tube. I used a .125 dia. tube and CA.

I cut out the wing slot on one of the fuse prints and made a template for the wing camber.

Put a 1" cardboard tube under the wing at the CF tube. Weight down the leading and trailing edges to match the template.

Temper the foam with a hair dryer of heat gun.

Flip the wing, weight it to hold the camber, and temper the underside.

Glue the print to the top side of the wing. Trim to print. I used 3M spray.

Glue the print to the underside of the wing.

Cut out the ailerons. I followed the panel lines for the flaps on the print. Bevel the ailerons and the wing. Tape them on. I used Scotch brand.

Glue on side of the print to the foam and trim.

Place the CF tube with motor stick on the fuse for position. Poke a pin thru each end to mark the other side.

Place the tube and mount on the back side lined up with the pin hole. Mark the location. Route out the foam for the tube same as you did the wing.

Thats it for tonight. I gotta get to bed. Will finish up tomorrow. Total time so far (less soaking the Sturdyboard) 1 1/2 hours.
