3mm-depron biplane design (images)

Hello Hello,

After long (and failed) search for a local seller, I have ordered a lot of depron from depronusa.com, in 2mm, 3mm, and 6mm. It is very cheap per sheet (US $2.50-4.00 depending on thickness.) I am going to have 12 of the 19" x 29" 3mm (some grey some white) sheets at my disposal, and so I went ahead and designed a bi-plane that is somewhat like the Tensor 4d, which I currently own. Here are the images, tell me what you think. I narrowed down the side-force generators a lot, as I don't like how they make the tensor fly.

Looks great!
Should fly nice and slooow.
If tail twist is still a problem like the tensor
maybe you could slightly increase the width of the horizontal fuse in the
rear, then add another piece of depron say 5x1 inches and bevel the sides and
lay them up from the horizontal fuse to the vertical fuse (like the new shocky's)
shawn

sorry i left some stuff outta these pictures they are not at all the final design, just the depron and support rods. Like on the ikarus and tensor i own(ed) (ikarus is gone), i epoxy small triangular balsa molding along the vertical/horizonatl fuse junction, it helps a lot with the tail. this is directed in the ikarus kit, but not in the tensor directions. I'll most likely just use 2 5" pieces along the bottom, by the tail.

oh and bamm, it is basically the tensor except for a few things, I know. But i did adjust some wing and fuse dimension:

2 inches longer, .5 inch wider wings.
top and bottom wings are 1 or so inches closer together (vertically) for more prop wash.
side force generators have been modified greatly as seen.
support and landing gear carbon fiber rods are lighter and arranged differently.

kevbeer, have you played with the biplane wingform used by the ZN Line Evolution and the Quasar (i.e. ~straight TE, tons of LE sweep to make tip chord very small)? I flew an Evolution and its flying efficiency was incredible. I read somewhere that smaller wing chord makes wings more efficient through pushes and pulls.

great point adam. I am going to cut 3 kits of this biplane, varying wing are and LE sweep, as well as vertical distance between wings. On one I will copy the quasar wings, only with bit more distance between the wings and a bit more wing area (a little wider from TE to LE.) the images show a wing shape i most likely won't use, but if i cut all 3 sets of wings to that shape, i got plenty of freedom to cut em down more (as I experiment.) thanks for the input.

It's a start. Here are pics of the Evolution to see the kind of taper I'm talking about.
