Anyone know this plane? German, WWII, assymetrical?

I had a GREAT hard back book..3" thick, Warplanes of the 3rd Reich. (Or something similar)

Very detailed...great 3 views of ALL the planes and variations..prototypes. Color foldoutsetc. Lent it to a friend 6 years ago...sigh.

I was wondering if anyone knows what that assymetrical prototype of the FW OWL was? (128..?)

It had a radial engine offset to one side and the "glass house" cockpit offset to the other side.
Elevator stuck out of the boom the engine was mounted on and just ended somewhere appropriate.

It reportedly flew well despite it's bizzare appearance.

I can't find it on the web..I don't know what it's actual model number was, and I stopped by my friends house tonite and he is on vacation!

I have this terrible urge to scratch build one in a speed 400 size.

Anyone know what plane I'm talking about, and has it been done ?

Jack Bale has great plans for the BV141. Unfortunately, I heard he has had health problems, and is not answering e-mail or snail mail. Rudderman98 wants a set of these plans BIG TIME! I think if he doesn't find them soon, he may explode!

THAT"S IT!!! No wonder I couldnt find it under FW!

Thanks a BUNCH! If It doesn't fly, I can blame it on the bizzare shape eh? Not my lack of skill.

I think Komet might have a copy of Jack's plans... I think it's a project on his building table right now.

Boba, Yes i'm building the Blom&Voss 141-b .i'm building from Nick Ziroli plans.they are avalibile from m.a.n.# FSP 06723 .His plans a have a 54"w.s. but i will be bringing it up to 58" to help with the extra load of the batteries. My power will be a maxcim MaxN32-13Y motor.(yes i have the motor!!!!) Nick orignaly had it powered by a .40 glow with a 3 blade prop.the plans show retracts and fixed gear.Dosen't show flaps but i will add them in.the cockpit/canopy are all built up then you add clear plastic for the windows.Cowl also built up,but making a plug to copy in glass or plastic should pose a problem either. At this point i have the fusealoge framed up and have to add planking strips. If you have experience in scratch building it shouldn't be to hard. here is a good page with a model at 80"w.s. go to picture gallery,http://home.att.net/~mr.442guy/Wulfpage_01/Page_1x.html Have fun.stefanP

Don Belfort built a S400 sized version. Reportedly flew very nicely. I think it was in Flying Models magazine that I read about it.
Here's a link to a photo of it:

Don built his BV-141 from scaled up rubber FF plans. Construction was sticks and formers, and it was covered with pre-primed MicaFilm (no longer available).

Early flights were really hairy until we figured out that like any other plane it needed be be laterally balanced. After that, it flew fine.

Don's observation pod is worthy of special note. He carefully built the greenhouse structure from sticks, which he then painted the color of the airframe (his is the RLM Dark Green/Black Green scheme). Then he covered the entire nacelle with clear Doculam. Last of all, he painted the sheet metal areas. The effect was really pretty nice.

Komet, are the flaps on yours going to be between the two fuselages? (would that make it just one flap?)

I will make them like the factory.left side is a soild flap from fuse outward and the right is split,a section between fuse and nacel then another small section to the right of the nacel.stefanP
