Brushless Motor for Yard Stick or Slo-V

Has anyone put a brushless motor in a Yard Stick or a Slo-V?

Would it make sense to do so?

I see the Slo-V as a good entry level photo platform and would like to upgrade to brushless for power and flight time.

Thanks for any ideas or information.

I imagine it would make sense...
but if i remember correctly... the slow-v has integrated electronics... so all of it would have to be replaced in order to install a brushless ESC... new servos, Rx, ESC...while your at it, you might as well throw in a new battery. thats one heck of a costly upgrade... you might as well get a proven set up.. like a GWS slowstick.

I might be wrong... ive never owned a slow-V, but i believe its made by parkzone or hobbyzone or somebody that uses those "all-in-one" electronics boards rather than the standardized individual replaceable components.

It is easily do-able... just spendy.
You could get a slow stick... people put brushless motors and fancy cameras on those all the time.

I put a Himaxx 2015-4100 on my Yard Stick and run it with 2s lipo's. I think I have somewhere around 5:1 gearing with a 9x6 prop. That does pretty good but I should probably go with a 10x7 SF or switch to the 4:1 gearing. All in all I'm pretty happy with it. You can also run 3s on that but you obviously add weight to the plane.

I own a Parkzone Slo V and can verify that you would have to replace "everything" to go brushless. It uses a combo ESC and Rx. and non standard 5-wire servos. It flies great even with a camera, but like Snowball said, If you plan on going brushless....go with the Slow Stick from the start. AP was just an afterthought when I bought my Slo V, if I'd have known that I would get the aerial photo bug..I would have opted for the Slow Stick w/brushless setup from the start.
Just me 2 cents

Yard Stic Slo-V

I have a Yard Stick on order from LHS and should have it tomorrow.

I still love the Slo-V, a great trainer that is fun to fly and will take a great deal of abuse.

I wanted to see what it was like to Roll My Own, and the Yard Stick seemed a good way to go.

The Slo-V has an 1180 GWS prop and the 7 cell battery pac.
