Which brushless motor to use with an 8 cell KAN650 pack in a Formosa

Hi All,

Question, I am thinking of buying a Park 370, Himax or Feigao BL motor,
not sure which wind right now.

I would like to use it with the following equipment that I aready have.

8 cell 650 Kan Batteries
10 CC ESC
Props under 11"

This will be on a formosa not looking for unlimited Vertical performance,
just same as NEW stock 350 C drive on same batteries, maybe a hair better.

Don't need to punch holds in the sky, just looking for a longer lasting setup with a longer run times if possible.
Planes weighs about 14.5 oz now RTF with Batteries.

I am up for any GWS Gear Ratio.
I know this has been ask before in many way's, but thread always seems to drift off to 3 cell Lipo's
and I do not what to go there right now. If thats the only anwser I'll just stick to GWS & johnson motors on my planes for now.

So what do you all think. Which motor?, gear ratio, prop and expected amp draw and such.

Thanks in advance Mike.

mike,
There are at least two good investments for electric flyers.

One would be to buy motocalc so you can get the general answers to questions such as you have posed above.

Two would be an ampmeter like a Whattmeter of the Sears $50 clamp on ampmeter. I like the clamp on because of its ease of use. The emeter from aircraft-world is another option tho I haven't seen a price yet.

Motocalc will tell you "what" to try and the ampmeter will tell you what the amp draw actually is.

Maybe if you made a post titled.. "what brushless motor to use with an 8 cell KAN650 pack in a Formosa" you would get more responses.

Hi Hoppy,

Thanks for the advice, I do have Amp meter and set of jumpers to connect it inline. I have read as many threads as I can find on the subject, think I know what I want to try, but pining down to last piece before the purchase is allways the hardest, thanks once again for your info, Your remark about the subject of question is a really good point and if this leads nowhere i will try it.

Thanks Mike.
