Burnt up about Burnt out rudder(tail Motor)

Help!!!
In the last week I have burnt out two brushless tail motors on my GWS-Dragonfly. Do I need to go to a different motor or buy a gross of the Dragonfly motors.

I assume you mean brushed motors? What batteries are you running? Also what mixer board? My Pha01 was notorious for burning up tail motors on any voltage more than 8.4!

Skeppley:
You are right about the PHao1, and they are brushed motors. But what do you recommend as a solution.I am using 7-cell batteries that came with the Dragonfly

I know that pain.

I built several hummingbirds before getting fed up with burnt out tail motors. I was using 3-cell lipo instead of 2 though. They are quite reliable on 2 cells. However, even on 2 cells I was never fully satisfied with the tail control - particularly with sudden throttle increases.

Then went to a zoom, which had plenty of tail drive-shaft & gear problems.
Then converted it to belt drive - much better.
Then went to the trex as it already has a belt drive.

Seems I'm always switching helis because of tail control problems!

If you use a high frequency ESC the tail motor should last a lot longer.

See the EHBG for a list of high frequency ESCs.

Thanks to all MicroHeli's for you knowledgable advise. I have decided to try a double motor setup. As I was advised that it will split the duties in half, which in thery should reduce the tail motor burn out. Again thank you for your advise

Looks like I have just burned my tail motor out also. Just stopped working. I tested with a meter and it has juice goin back there. I have about maybe 6 hours on this stock motor. Using a NiMH 8.4V. Also a 4 in 1 board. Funny thing was that I have had an issue before where the heli would get possessed and do what it wanted. I have not got a decent hover yet. But yesterday it decided to go beserk and it shot up in the air and it acually hovered there for about 10 seconds (perfect) with out my help.go figure.lol then when it decided to let me have control back it shot into the ceiling then into the wall. I hate this Dragonfly clone!! but then after that tail motor went caput. Nothing broke on the heli! =(
