My s400 7.2v and 6v both have RS380-PH stamped under the sticker. Whats up with that?
Can someone shed some light on this for me. Just curious. Maybe whoever put the sticker on it messed up.
What mabuchi motor is the s400 6v, and which one is the s400 7.2v. Thanks in advance. |

Barret: The 380PH is 6V and the 380SH is 7.2V; see FMA Direct web site catalog; MOTORS.

Now im really confused. The links above say that the 380PH nominal voltage is 10.5v and the 380SH nominal voltage is 7.2v.
Seems like it should be the other way around. The reason that i am trying to figure this out is because there is a growing e-flight population in my area, but none of the LHS will commit to popular e-flight products, like s400 motors. So im trying to find someone here in the states that will sell in bulk or wholesale. Not so that I can really make a lot of money (but that would be nice) but rather, just so I can have a supply of my favorite size motors without having to order them online. And so that fellow e-flyers can purchase a few from me whenever they need them. And thanks for the responses guys. |

If you make a disc so you can tach the motor at "no" load you should see 16,4k rpm at 6V input for the 6V motor and 7,2V input for the 7,2v version.
Or just put a regular prop on it - tach it and compare with a "true" s400/6V and /7,2V at the same input voltage. |

Fred: by running 7 cell 700 mah packs on my S400 6V will that shorten motor life compared to using 6 cell 850 mah packs? Also...does Guenther make another prop besides the 125 x 110 that works great ? I have seen some talk about a generic 5 x 5 carbon prop for the S400...will this increase the current draw too much ? Voltage, or more exactly over voltage, is the thing that shortens a motor's life. Hooking it up to a higher capacity (mAh) supply will only make it run longer, given everything else the same.

Think about it - In geared applications you can use a couple of cells more with no problems, provided you keep the amps down.

I have a 6V Speed 400 marked RS-380PH, and a 7.2V Speed 400 also marked RS-380PH.
You cannot tell the voltage from these part numbers. There is supposed to be winding info in 5 extra digits - but this is usually missing. |
