Read and make your own decision: I would not give much credibility to any lay opinions of the toxicity.
(But I'll give you mine - I would make every effort NOT to breath any of that smoke. It's got some nasty chemicals in it.)

Even scarier, and unknown, the automatic dishwasher in your house is high on the indoor pollution list, levels of organic pollutants that vaporize from hot water from dishwashers, along with the other phosphates and chemicals within the detergent, are wiffed up by your family on a daily basis.

There was a post here some time ago from someone that shorted out a Li-Ion or Li-Poly pack just to see what would happen. They weren't injured by the explosion but inhaled some fumes while cleaning up the mess. It put them in the hospital and several months after were still left with breathing problems.

My advice, don't let the smoke out to begin with, if it's smokin enough that you're breathing in Toxic fumes, it's time to toss the pack!

-Just my two cents -

not just the smoke, but after crashing a pack, and its punctured, you get that smell, and I have probably gone through around 40cells already. I know its best to avoid the smell, but sometimes you just cant.....
