Possibilities abound with deficient packaging:

Chris,
Thanks for posting details of this incident, which serves as a good reminder of the importance of proper lipo storage at all times. As noted there must be a cause for the incident. I have no intention of guessing the cause of your lipo pack failure, but I would like to share with you an experience I had with a brand new, factory-made pack I purchased last year. Specifically, I received a 3S pack in which a centre tap wire gave a reading of zero voltage on one cell. The pack had never been used — or even charged by me. After discussing the problem with the vendor by email, I decided to have a look inside the pack for myself. My dissection of the pack revealed that the center tap wire in question was completely unconnected to the PCB inside the pack. Looking at the placement of the loose and unisulated wire end inside the pack, I thought it conceivable that the wire could possibly have been moved by handling of the pack, perhaps causing a short with other connections on the PCB. Fortunately, that did not happen, and I was able to repair the pack. Coincidentally, my faulty pack was also made by same maufacturer as yours. Andrew |

LiPoly Self-combustion
Hi Guys,
Many thanks for the responses...I'm currently working with the supplier to sort it out. The pack holds 7.1v despite looking like a red boot with the toes worn through No animal interference & no evidence (external observation) of improper handling on delivery was recorded. Here's another gruesome photo: |
